2023's Battlefront: Hindus in the War Against Fake News and Propaganda

There’s an age-old saying that the enemies within a nation can often pose a greater threat than those outside its borders. In India, this sentiment holds true as well. Within the country, there exists a lobby that consistently works against the interests of Hindus and India as a whole. Their tactics include tarnishing India’s image through the spread of misinformation, fake news, and the stoking of communal tensions. Their goal is to create a false narrative that portrays India as an unsafe place for Muslims, where minority rights are oppressed by the majority.

Throughout this year, there have been several distressing incidents where propagandists have gone to great lengths to smear the honor, credibility, and image of Hindus and India as a nation. These individuals and groups whether from India or from foreign have made concerted efforts to frame Hindus for false charges and incidents, distorting the reality in the process. Their actions not only sow discord but also threaten the unity and harmony that India values. So, it’s essential to shed light on these incidents to counter such divisive narratives and to expose these propagandists and groups.

Let’s take a look at some of the fake news these propagandists have spread against Hindus throughout this year up until now.

Fake News 1

On January 2, 2023, journalist Ismat Ara of the propaganda media outlet The Wire and Muslim activist Sarjeel Usmami resorted to the old tactic of playing the victim card. While addressing this issue in their tweets and defending the people protesting, they claimed that the Uttarakhand Court is attempting to make the Muslim community in Haldwani homeless.

Ashok Swain, a fake news peddler, also claimed that the right-wing Hindu dictatorship plans to demolish 4,500 Muslim houses. He plainly framed this as a Hindu-Muslim conflict.

source: Twitter

During our investigation, we found no communal angle in this matter. People like Ismat and Sharjeel were purposely bringing up the communal angle in order to justify the encroacher’s illegal encroachment and to show that the government is against Muslims and taking their houses away.

Fake News 2

On January 18, 2022, the fake news peddler Ashok Swain tweeted that a Muslim student getting a Masters in Computer Science is being savagely beaten up by a Hindu supremacist vigilante gang in Madhya Pradesh for talking to a Hindu girl.

During our investigation, we found that Shahbaz was assaulted not for conversing with a Hindu girl but because he was threatening her to marry him. According to the girl, he even threatened her, saying that if she refused his proposal, she would be killed along with her family members.

Fake News 3

On January 16, 2023, a Hinduphobic Twitter user named Ashok Swain tweeted a video blaming Hindu supremacists for the closing of a mosque in Belgavi, Karnataka, with the caption, “Officials have sealed a mosque in Karnataka, India, because of the demands from Hindu supremacist groups! The claim is that a private house has been converted into a mosque. They have problems wherever Muslims pray!”

Fake News
source: Twitter

During our investigation, we found that to build any religious place, you need a license from the tax authorities. Once you have obtained this certificate, you can register your trust with the relevant state or central government agency. However, in this case, a private house was converted into a mosque without permission from the authorities. For this reason, the corporation issued a notice regarding the building license violation for carrying out religious activities on the residential property. The mosque has been sealed after receiving notice from City Corporation Belagavi.

Fake News 4

On January 28, Zakir Tyagi, a propaganda journalist for News Click, stated in a tweet that Afsana, a resident of Sumbulpur village in the Jaunpur district, was molested by three local residents. In addition, he blamed the police and stated that they were trying to cover up the rape case against Dalit men.

During our investigation, we found that Satya and Hriday, who are related, own a farm on which they raise crops. Afsana keeps ducks at her residence, and they frequently ruin the crops on their farm. On January 23, they went to damage the crops, resulting in a confrontation between the two parties.

Since Satya and his relatives belong to the SC/ST community, Afsana feared that they might file a case against her. So she went to file a fake rape case against those Dalit men.

Fake News 5

On January 30, propaganda journalist Ahmed Khabeer of Jamia Times tweeted a video of a Kashmiri girl claiming that Sumaira, a Kashmiri Muslim girl, was cheated by a man from Bihar. She was forcibly converted to Hinduism by him. He married her and left her after impregnating her.

Ahmed Khabeer

During our investigation, we found that the girl was not forcefully converted. She converted willingly, and there was no pressure from any side

Fake News 6

On February 20, journalist Sadaf Afreen tweeted a video in which a man in a white t-shirt is seen hitting another man in a dhoti-kurta with his bat. Sadaf claimed that the man being beaten is a pandit who misbehaved with the girl. The pandit was thrashed with a bat when the girl complained to her family members.

During our investigation, we found that the claim that youths were thrashing the priest for molesting a girl is fake. According to the actual incident, youths used the temple where Kailash was appointed as a priest to hide their belongings. They put their cricket equipment inside the temple one day. The priest locked the temple and walked 10 kilometers away.

Seeing the temple door locked, the four boys broke the lock and took away their belongings. When confronted by the priest, they brutally thrashed him with an anti-Brahmin insult. Later, the police arrested them.

Fake News 7

On February 26, 2023, fake news peddler Ashok Swain, quoted The Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED) and claimed in his tweet that, as per ACLED data, violence against Muslims and Christians is growing in India, which is why the country is placed on the watch list.

Ashok Swain
source: Twitter

During our investigation, we found that the claim made by Ashok Swain was fake as India’s name was not on the watch list of ACLED.

Fake News 8

On March 16, 2023, propaganda human rights handle South Asian Human Rights Watch shared a video that purported to show a mob brutally attacking a guy in India. The tweet claimed that a Hindu mob brutally attacked a Christian youth and that this incident was part of a rising trend of mob lynching in India, which is fueling communal violence and religious intolerance. The tweet also called on the international community to take notice of this situation.

Apart from this, anti-Hindu Twitter handle Shirin Khan also shared the same video and wrote, Brutal attack on a Christian by a Hindu mob in India, a country where mob lynchings are on the rise.

During our investigation, we found that the victim’s name was Alpesh Parmar, and he had befriended a girl through social media. The duo met on several occasions, but their friendship did not last. However, after this, Parmar allegedly posted objectionable comments about the girl and her friend on social media, which led to the controversy.

Besides, on December 11, 2022, the girl went to a temple and made her visit live on social media. Parmar got to know her live location through the live telecast and came to stalk her. The girl then called up her friends, including the suspects who allegedly thrashed Parmar.

So, the claims made by the South Asian Human Rights Watch and Shirin Khan regarding the identity and motive of the victim and the attackers are false, as it was a clear case of online harassment and stalking.

Fake News 9

On March 28th, 2023, Millat Times, a news agency known for its controversial coverage and Hinduphobic content, shared a video on its official Twitter handle. The video claimed that Bajrang Dal workers had raised objectionable slogans against Muslims in front of the Madrasa and Masjid in a religious rally in Tele village of Jamwa Ramgarh, Rajasthan. According to the Millat Times, the situation escalated when Muslims asked the Bajrang Dal workers to remain silent during Namaz, and the workers allegedly responded by stone-pelting.

The Millat Times further claimed that to protect themselves, children from the Muslim community also pelted stones, and the police were taking one-sided action by arresting only people from the Muslim community.

Apart from this, propagandist RJ Sayema also shared the same video on her Twitter handle and wrote, Islamophobia is rampant in India. Stone-pelting on people praying is deplorable. Worse, no action will be taken on these goons.

However, during our investigation, we found that the claims made by the Millat Times and Sayema were completely false and misleading. It was not Hindus who pelted stones on Masjids and Madrasas, but rather, it was Muslims who resorted to violence during a rally by the Hindu community to celebrate Hindu Nav Varsh.

Fake News 10

A video was tweeted by some Islamic fundamentalists on social media, in which some people were making a person drink water from a shoe. People claimed that upper caste Hindus made the Muslim youth drink water from their shoes.

In this sequence, ‘Wasiuddin Siddiqui’, who often spreads lies on Twitter, tweeted this video. Describing the victim as a Muslim, Siddiqui wrote, “No matter how much this video clip is condemned, this kind of behavior towards a society in independent India is shameful!! But this question is coming in mind that why these people remain at the forefront in protesting and violence against Muslims!! After all, how do these people get used again and again!!

During our investigation, we found that there is no Hindu/Muslim or Dalit angle in this case. The victim was not targeted due to his caste or religion, as both parties involved belonged to the same community.

Fake News 11

On April 8, 2023, a Twitter user, Tarannum Bano, shared a letter claiming that the controversial letter is from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). According to the reported letter, Hindu boys are encouraged to trap Muslim girls and convert them to Hinduism. Along with sharing the letter, she claimed that Hindus are carrying out conspiracies against Muslim girls. Hindu boys would be paid Rs 5 lakh as a reward for trapping Muslim girls into a relationship at colleges or offices and converting them to Hinduism.

Tarannun Bano fake news
source: Twitter

During our investigation, we found that the viral letter is a forgery. The Islamists used this propaganda to discredit the RSS and to propagate the narrative that Hindu girls are being lured into the love jihad trap in the same manner that Hindu organizations are planning conspiracies to trap Muslim girls.

Fake News 12

On April 22, 2023, a video went viral on social media, showing a woman creating a ruckus inside a mosque. However, before her identity could be revealed, various social media accounts started claiming that the woman was a Hindu. A Twitter user with the name Samrin Hayat, claimed that the woman in the video was a Hindu and that she had entered the mosque in Virginia, USA. According to her, the woman climbed onto the pulpit, made Islamophobic statements, and was subsequently arrested.

During our investigation, we found that the woman seen in a viral video interrupting Eid prayers and creating ruckus in a mosque in Virginia, USA, was not Hindu but a Muslim woman with mental health issues.

Fake News 13

On April 24, 2023, a disturbing video went viral on social media platforms showing a group of men brutally assaulting an elderly Muslim man and cutting off his beard. The graphic footage quickly sparked outrage and condemnation from people all around the world. A Hinduphobic journalist with the Twitter handle name Aqssss shared the video and made a shocking claim in his tweet, stating, “What an animalistic behavior! A Hindutva mob in Uttar Pradesh lynched an elderly Muslim man & subjected him to a brutal attack before cutting his beard off with scissors. Where is the government of Modi?”

During our investigation, we found that the video claiming a communal attack on an elderly Muslim man in Uttar Pradesh is actually from June 2021, and there was no communal angle to it. The victim and accused knew each other for a long time, and most of the accused were Muslims.

Fake News 14

On April 26th, 2023, a video went viral on social media that was quickly picked up by some Hinduphobic Twitter users. The video shows a violent altercation between several individuals, but the identity of the attackers and the motive behind the attack are unclear. Despite this, a Twitter user named Bob Vageneakar shared the viral video and claimed that two Hindu extremists in America attacked a black man with weapons and that both were subsequently arrested and being investigated for a hate crime.

In a disturbing trend of spreading misinformation and hate on social media, another Hinduphobic Twitter user by the name of Sam Khan quoted Bob Vageneakar’s tweet about an altercation involving several individuals and claimed two “mob lynchers” with sticks were unable to defeat a single black man outside of India.

During our investigation into the viral video of the gas station beating incident, we found that the video was 8 years old and had nothing to do with Hindu extremism, as claimed by some Hindu-phobic Twitter users. Instead, the incident was a result of a criminal act by Dominick Smith, who had pleaded guilty to two felony counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety in connection with the beating of two gas station clerks and was later sentenced to 36 months in prison and 48 months of extended supervision by the court.

Fake News 15

On April 27th, 2023, a disturbing video went viral on social media, depicting several individuals harassing and attempting to forcefully snatch the phone of a Muslim girl wearing a hijab. While the identities of the individuals responsible for the harassment were unknown, a Twitter user named Mohdraheemuddin shared the video and wrote, this is harassment; they are pulling her hijab, they are hounding her, and it’s happening in broad daylight. Through his tweet, Mohdraheemuddin suggested that the perpetrators were Hindu by using hashtags like “right-wingers”, “Islamophobia in India,” and “Ban RSS VHP Bajrangdal”.

Mohdraheemuddin
source: Twitter

During our investigation, we found that the claims made by certain Twitter handles about the harassment of a Muslim girl in hijab by Hindus are completely false and misleading. Besides, the reality of the incident is that the girl was harassed and manhandled by members of her own community (Muslims) for being friends with a Hindu man.

Fake News 16

On April 27, 2023, the Indian American Muslim Council published, Two Hindu supremacists who were arrested after infiltrating the 17th century Makkah Masjid in Telangana state and shouting “Jai Sri Ram,”. The slogan has been used as a war cry by Hindu militants during violent attacks against Muslims. The incident has led to increased security in the mosque.”

https://twitter.com/IAMCouncil/status/1651642339646128128?t=LCGPgzDqrAhoGDr0xI4mRg&s=19

During our investigation, we found that Hindu boys didn’t raise ‘Jai Sri Ram’ slogans to inflame communal disharmony. It was their mobile ringtone that rang, and later they had to face the police ordeal and Hinduphobic media trial. However, after proving their innocence, they were released. Hence, it was a fake incident.

Fake News 17

On April 30, 2023, Hinduphobic activist named Ali Sohrab claimed in his tweet that five Hindus had raped a woman after pulling her half-dead body from the cremation ground in Rajasthan. Sohrab further alleged that Hindu media outlets had aired fake news to cover up the incident by linking it to some concrete graves in Hyderabad, India, and Algeria with Pakistan and rape.

During our investigation, we found that no such incident of rape had taken place. The incident was completely fabricated, and there was no evidence to support it.

Fake News 18

On May 3, a Twitter user going by the username Angel reported that the Indian army had arrested a terrorist in Kashmir. During the interrogation, he disclosed that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh provided them with weapons and money and instructed them to kill Hindus in order to instil hatred for Muslims in the minds of Hindus.

fake news by Angel
source: Twitter

During our investigation, we found that the claim that the RSS sent weaponry and money to terrorist, Abdul Qayum, in order for him to carry out an attack against Hindus is false. Abdul Qayum was a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba, not the RSS.

Fake News 19

On May 15, 2023, The Wire published an article shedding light on the unfortunate communal violence that engulfed Akola, Maharashtra. The report unravelled a tragic incident wherein Vilas Gaikwad, a 40-year-old man from the Dalit community, lost his life in a merciless attack. According to the report, Eyewitnesses revealed that Gaikwad, an auto-rickshaw driver, desperately pleaded with the mob, repeatedly emphasizing that he did not belong to the Muslim community. However, Vilas Gaikwad’s appeals fell on deaf ears and they mistook his identity as his auto-rickshaw bore the inscription “KGN,” symbolizing his reverence for Khawaja Gharib Nawaz.

The Wire article
source: The Wire

During our investigation, we found that Gaikwad was not an autorickshaw driver but rather an electrician, diligently working to provide for his family as their sole breadwinner. The notion that Hindus were responsible for his death also falls apart, as the investigation reveals a different reality. Gaikwad fell victim to a violent attack orchestrated by a Muslim mob, according to the press note shared by the Akola Police. Hence, the claims made by The Wire regarding Vilas Gaikwad’s profession and reason of death were false and misleading.

Fake News 20

On the microblogging site recently, a video from Kota, Rajasthan, was shared. A bus carrying hajj pilgrims was attacked with stone-pelting in Kota by the miscreants, according to many users who posted the footage. The windows being damaged may be seen in several pieces of footage from the incident.

However, many people attempted to take a collective perspective and give it a communal angle. When sharing the visuals from the incidents, the verified user Muslim Daily said that the Hindutva group had attacked a bus. Muslim women were threatened with kidnapping, and Muslim passengers were made to chant Jai Shri Ram.

During our investigation, we found that the claims that a Hindutva mob in Kota attacked a bus carrying Haj pilgrims are false. The truth is that there was a dispute over a bus overtaking the bikes. The issue became so heated that the accused abruptly began throwing stones at the bus. The police have made an arrest. The propagandists tried to give it a communal angle to incite communal tension and create unrest.

Fake News 21

On May 27, 2023, a Hindu-phobic Twitter handle named Amira Afreen shared a collage picture featuring a woman. The first image depicted her looking unharmed and in good spirits, while the second image revealed a shocking sight: the woman’s face bore severe injuries. Alongside the picture, Amira Afreen composed a sarcastic comment that read, “Her Ramlal was also not like that. He was a painter; what a painting! Many congratulations.” The intention behind this snide remark was to ridicule the woman’s claim that her Hindu partner was different from other Hindus who allegedly befriended Muslim women and later harm them.

fake news by amira afreen
source: Twitter

During our investigation, we found that the woman in the viral picture with the injured face is not the victim of the Bhagwa Love Trap, as claimed by some social media handlers. Instead, the woman in the viral picture has been identified as Resham Khan, who, tragically, was a victim of an acid attack perpetrated by John Tomlin six years ago in June 2017.

Fake News 22

On June 22, 2023, an intriguing tweet emerged from the Twitter handle of Archana Ambedkar, capturing the attention of netizens across the virtual realm. The tweet featured a captivating photograph showcasing a newlywed couple. Archana Ambedkar accompanied the image with a thought-provoking caption. She wrote, Dhirendra Shastri of Bageshwar Dham sees people’s pamphlets and tells them about their lives and also claims to make India a Hindu nation, but the interesting thing is that his own sister Vandana Tiwari is abandoning her Brahmin clan and marrying a Muslim youth. She claimed that Vandana Tiwari is leaving Hinduism, and Bageshwar Sarkar is not even aware of it.

Archana Ambedkar fake news
source: Twitter

During our investigation, we found that the woman in question is the television actress Gehana Vasisth, who recently married Faizan Khan and converted to Islam. However, it is crucial to dispel the misguided notions surrounding Dhirendra Shastri’s sister, Rita Garg. In actuality, Rita Garg had entered into a sacred union with Kamlesh Chauraha, a Hindu Brahmin, back in 2015. This revelation firmly establishes that the claims circulated on social media, suggesting a connection between the viral picture and Dhirendra Shastri’s sister, were entirely false and misleading.

Fake News 23

On June 24, 2023, Hindu hate monger Mohammad Shoaib shared the horrifying video of the brutal killing of a woman with the caption, “The name of this girl is Saima Ali, a resident of Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, where she was trapped in his love trap by a Hindu boy named Vijay Jadhav. Vijay lured this girl away from her house, later converted this girl and named her Sheetal Jadhav”.

He further wrote, “After a year, he again started forcing her to sleep with his friend every night. Vijay killed Saima Ali and also recorded the murder. Girls do not understand that these saffron pigs do not love them. They want to fulfill their lust and finally see the result of haram love, gone from the world”.

Mohammad Shoaib
source: Twitter

During our investigation, we found that the brutal murder of the young woman occurred in Brazil. The distressing series of heinous killings took place during the month of August 2020. A shocking total of 17 female victims were subjected to unimaginable violence. However, these irrefutable findings lead to the firm conclusion that the videos disseminated by radical Islamists lack substantial evidence and were deliberately shared with malicious intent to tarnish the reputation of the Hindu community.

Fake News 24

On Twitter, a Pakistani allegedly turned South Asian Human Rights Watch (SAHRW) account that is undeniably famous for tarnishing India’s image globally tweeted a disturbing video where a man wearing kameez and pyajama can be seen brutally hitting a man with a shovel. According to the SAHR, who tweeted the video footage, the man seen in the video is an upper-caste Hindu who violently beat a retired Dalit PAC inspector. The heartbreaking attacks, they continued, “shed light on the pervasive discrimination faced by Dalits in India.”

SAHRW
source: Twitter

During our investigation, we found that the claim made by SAHR is misleading because the accused was a Muslim named Zarif Ansari and not an upper caste from the Hindu community.

Fake News 25

A photograph of a woman was shared with a claim attached to it. According to the claim, the woman in the picture supposedly converted to Islam, citing a reason related to Hinduism. The claim suggests that the woman embraced Islam due to a perceived disparity in Hindu beliefs. It alleges that in Hinduism, it is acceptable to consume cow urine, yet some adherents allegedly hold prejudices against individuals from the Dalit community, preventing them from drinking water from their hands.

A Twitter handle named Yasmeen Khan shared the viral picture and wrote, There is no better or truer religion than Islam, and there will never be, suggesting that the woman in the picture converted to Islam because it is the only true religion.

Yasmeen Khan fake news
source: Twitter

During our investigation, we found that the woman in the viral picture did not willingly embrace Islam, nor did she make any disrespectful comments about Hinduism, as claimed by Yasmeen Khan and others. Rather, her true identity is Jaya Bhandari, who fell victim to the harrowing experience of being forcibly converted to Islam by her second husband. Jaya’s story exposes the grave injustices she endured, including the coercion to change her name, the forceful imposition of a new faith, and the compelled consumption of beef, all of which conflicted with her own religious beliefs and personal autonomy.

Fake News 26

On July 26, 2023, an anti-Hindu bigot named Ummah Khan shared a chilling and disturbing video. The video presents a deeply unsettling scene of violence and brutality. The footage captures a horrifying incident where two individuals are seen mercilessly lynching a defenseless person lying on the ground, whose body is covered in blood. However, along with the video, Ummah Khan wrote, “This is Hindutva BJP fascist regime so-called democracy, a shame on humanity,” suggesting that the incident allegedly occurred in India and was carried out by Hindu extremists.

During our investigation, we found that the distressing footage shared by Ummah Khan is, in fact, not from India, nor was it carried out by Hindu extremists. Instead, the video captures a deeply unsettling incident that occurred two years ago in 2021 in Bangladesh, where a man named Shahin Uddin fell victim to a brutal lynching in the midst of a land dispute.

Fake News 27

On July 26, 2023, a controversial post made its way through social media when former cricketer and known purveyor of fake news, Kirti Azad, shared a picture that purportedly showed Veer Savarkar and an unidentified person in a suit shaking hands. However, in his post, Kirti Azad went on to claim that this alleged encounter took place in Lahore back in 1942 and suggested that it involved two notorious figures – Savarkar and Jinnah – conspiring to divide India.

During our investigation, we found that the unidentified person in the photograph shared by Kirti Azad is unequivocally revealed to be none other than Sir Stafford Cripps, not Jinnah as the former had claimed.

Fake News 28

An anti-Hindu Twitter account by the name of Davinder Pal Singh recently uploaded a video of a soldier carrying an AK-47 rifle while wearing civilian clothing. The tweet referred to them as “saffron terrorists” and questioned where these weapons came from.

The user, while tweeting the video, wrote, “From where did these saffron terrorists get AK-47 guns? Is there an intention to make the country Manipur? Why are the police not taking action? Well, bulldozers are kept to demolish the houses of the poor and the afflicted, not the terrorists. Everything will be remembered!”

Similarly, Kashif Arsalaan, known for disseminating inflammatory content and false information, has also shared the same video showing army personnel. In his tweet, Arsalaan claims that these people are members of Bajrang Dal.

https://twitter.com/KashifArsalaan/status/1688450908873785344?t=Ar4PR12nlS7jxenWuOXAnw&s=19

During our investigation, we found that, when during the nuh violence Muslims attacked the Hindu yatra, the responding officers from Nuh City faced challenges in reaching the Shiva temple in time, at that time, a group of plain-clothed army personnel from the crime investigation team managed to arrive on the scene. These officers, equipped with AK-47 rifles, engaged the rioters on the hillside as they retreated, effectively restoring a measure of control.

Fake News 29

On August 14, 2023, Kashif Arsalaan, a serial false news peddler who sits outside India and peddles fake news against the Hindu community and numerous Hindu organizations, tweeted a video (Archive link) of a few people engaging in a violent conflict with police. While tweeting the video, he wrote a caption in Hindi, which translates too, “When the terrorist organization Bajrang Dal becomes fierce, then it does not even recognize the one from whom it is getting protection. According to Kashif’s claim, the people involved in physical violence with the police are members of the Bajrang Dal.

During our investigation, we found that the individuals responsible for the violence and the church attack were identified as members of the Adivasi community. There was no indication of involvement by Bajrang Dal members.

Fake News 30

On August 14, 2023, a Twitter user named Arshad Ismat Ali shared a disturbing viral video. The video depicted a heart-wrenching scene: a father (Shoaib) carrying his young daughter on his shoulders, was shot in the middle of a bustling street. Along with the video, Arshad Ismat Ali wrote, “Welcome to #ModiDisasterForIndia. This is India for Muslims in 2023. He further said that if the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) failed to take a stand against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), then there will be a Muslim genocide in India. He even used hashtags like #Muslims_Under_Attack_in_India, suggesting that Muslims are not safe in India anymore under the current government.

During our investigation, we found that Shoaib was not shot by RSS workers or Hindus, as initially suggested. Instead, he was shot by the members of his own community. The name of the accused were Tariq, Gufran, and Nadeem.

Fake News 31

On August 24, 2023, a Twitter user named Sukhpreet posted a video showing a couple initially arguing and then getting into a fight with others. In the tweet, Sukhpreet labelled the people involved in the fight as “Hindutva Terrorist”, implying that the individuals causing the disturbance were associated with Hindu extremism.

During our investigation, we found that the whole incident happened in North Goa. In Porvorim, on the late night of August 20, a Christian couple named Jason and Jamia, who were quite drunk, caused a big scene. Their trouble started at a shop in Goa, where Jason argued with the cashier. Another tourist tried to calm things down, but the couple ended up fighting with this tourist too. The situation escalated when they had a fight with a tourist from Kerala, who then lodged an FIR against the couple. It is apparent that Sukhpreet’s attempt to label this incident as an act of Hindutva terrorist was misplaced and driven by evil motives beyond the actual events.

During our investigation, we found that the alleged video is completely scripted and the video was shared on Twitter after cropping it so that the disclaimer present at the end of the video is not visible to the people.

Fake News 35

Eight months ago, a very famous wedding took place in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh. This marriage was not of the son or daughter of any big industrialist or film star but of two common people – Rahul and Iqra. Iqra was Muslim by religion, hence this marriage was in the headlines. The police had also given them security to save their lives from fundamentalists during or after the marriage. Recently a news went viral on social media, it was claimed that Rahul had killed Iqra.

Nafees Ahmed wrote on Twitter, “In Mandsaur, Muslim girl Iqra from Rajasthan adopted Sanatan Dharma and married Hindu boy Rahul Verma with Vedic chants. After 2 years, Iqra’s burnt body was found in her house. Rahul ran away.”

Fake News 37

On September 1, 2023, Sadaf Afreen shared a tweet and wrote that posters were put up to vacate Gurugram Muslim slums and settlements within 2 days! It is written on the poster – “If you want to save your life and honor, then vacate the area in two days.” Is this not oppression?? This is not an act of promoting hatred?? Tell me, will this bring peace to the society or spread unrest?? Will action be taken against those who put up posters or will the government remain silent to appease the crowd?? The news story claims that Swami Vivekananda went to Chicago in 1893 to attend the World Religious Conference. He did not have the credentials to deliver a speech there, so he sent a telegram to a Brahmin Shankaracharya (Shankaracharya is not named here) and asked him to send the authorization certificate of being the spokesperson of Hindu religion. But Shankaracharya refused to give him the certificate saying, “You do not belong to the Brahmin caste but to the “Shudra” caste; therefore, you cannot be made the spokesperson of the Hindus.” Swami ji was very hurt by the casteism that happened to him and this behavior of Brahmin Shankaracharya.

The news story further goes that seeing him upset, Anagarika Dhammapala Boudh Ji, who was the spokesperson of Sri Lankan “Buddhism” based in Chicago, gave a consent letter to Swamiji on his behalf. And in this way he got a chance to express his views in the Parliament of Religions. Hence, these frequent fact-checks highlight the alarming pace and unwavering intensity with which propagandists launch their attacks on the honour, credibility, and image of Hindus and India. Their global network, robust and far-reaching, operates tirelessly, ensuring that not a single day goes by without their venomous narratives aimed at defaming Hindus and India on the world stage

In the face of this relentless assault, it becomes our shared responsibility to shield Hindus and protect India from these assaults. It’s imperative that we collectively expose these propagandists, regardless of whether they operate internally or externally, and bring them to justice. Only through unity and truth can we preserve the integrity and reputation of Hindus and our beloved nation.
