Recently, a distressing and gruesome video depicting a woman being brutally attacked by a stone has gone viral. It is claimed that the incident occurred in India, and some extremist social media users even attributed it to a conspiracy theory called “Bhagwa Love Trap.” This theory insinuates a plot by Islamists to tarnish India’s image and manipulate public sentiment.

Hindu hate monger Mohammad Shoaib shared the horrifying video of the brutal killing of a woman with the caption that “The name of this girl is Saima Ali, a resident of Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, where she was trapped in his love trap by a Hindu boy named Vijay Jadhav. Vijay lured this girl away from her house, later converted this girl and named her Sheetal Jadhav”.

He further wrote “After a year, he again started forcing her to sleep with his friend every night. Vijay killed Saima Ali and also recorded the murder. Girls do not understand that these saffron pigs do not love them. They want to fulfill their lust and finally see the result of haram love, gone from the world”.

In addition, this video is also shared by a few more Twitter accounts going by the name Shan, Mamul Rashid with the same caption attribution.

Fact Check

After conducting a thorough reverse image search of the widely circulated video, it has been discovered that the unfortunate victim depicted is Thália Torres de Souza, a young woman aged 23. The woman shown in the video is from Brazil. Tragically, she fell victim to a heinous crime committed by individuals associated with a criminal faction in 2020, leading to her untimely demise.

A significant breakthrough emerged through meticulous analysis of the video as we identified a partially visible logo reading ‘fort-‘ on the red top worn by the woman depicted. Further investigation led us to the discovery that the victim was clad in a jersey associated with Fortaleza Esporte Clube, a renowned Brazilian football club. This crucial detail strongly suggests that the video in question originated from Brazil rather than India.

Besides this, we also come across a Twitter video by a user, called Fallen Angel, it’s captioned in Bosnian but from the year 2020. The video says, “I have to share this with you because unfortunately very few people even know about this case. The woman in the video is 23-year-old Thália Torres de Souza from Brazil, who was kidnapped and brutally murdered.”

Therefore, the football club logo and a Twitter video gave a pretty clear idea that the video was from Brazil. However, to further substantiate our findings we looked for news reports.

We found a Brazilian news blog that said, “The month of August 2020 ends with the record of 17 women murdered in Ceará. In the year, there are already 226 women killed in the state. Eleven crimes of the kind took place in the Interior, another three in Fortaleza and three more in the Metropolitan Region of the Capital. Among the 17 victims in August were three elderly women (the oldest, aged 84) and a 16-year-old teenager.

One of the most cruel crimes involved a 23-year-old girl, identified as Thália Torres de Souza, who was kidnapped by members of a criminal faction in the Bom Jardim neighborhood and taken to the neighboring neighborhood, Granja Portugal, at dawn on the last day. 26.”

Apart from this we also found a news website, cn7 that confirmed this heinous incident in Brazil. CN7 reported, “The month of August ends with the record of 17 women murdered in Ceará. In the year, there are already 226 women killed in the state. Moreover, eleven crimes of the kind took place in the Interior, another three in Fortaleza and three more in the Metropolitan Region of the Capital. Among the 17 victims in August were three elderly women (the oldest, aged 84) and a 16-year-old teenager.

The article further said, “One of the cruellest crimes involved a 23-year-old girl, identified as Thália Torres de Souza, who was kidnapped by members of a criminal faction in the Bom Jardim neighbourhood and taken to the neighbouring neighbourhood, Granja Portugal, at dawn on the last day. 26.”

Based on the compelling evidence provided in the two articles, it has been unequivocally established that the brutal murder of the young woman occurred in Brazil. Thus, dispelling any claims of it happening in India. The distressing series of heinous killings took place during the month of August 2020. A shocking total of 17 female victims were subjected to unimaginable violence. However, these irrefutable findings lead to the firm conclusion that the videos disseminated by radical Islamists lack substantial evidence and were deliberately shared with malicious intent to tarnish the reputation of the Hindu community.
