In today’s digital media era, the prevalence of fake news and misinformation threatens the credibility of the fourth pillar of democracy. Fake news represents a new form of yellow journalism, involving the spread of propaganda and false narratives. A prime example of such yellow journalism is the handle ‘Sadaf Afreen’ on X. Although Sadaf claims to be a journalist, her handle is known for continuously disseminating misleading information particularly targeting the Hindu community and to exacerbate social division.
