Radicals sharing two-year-old incident of two girls to incite communal hatred

Footage of two girls critically injured lying in a hospital bed and a police officer sitting next to them with a notepad is being disseminated online by pro-Muslim extremist accounts. The image is circulated widely with a claim that recently Hindu boys kidnapped two Muslim girls, raped them, and slashed their throats.

On April 17, a Twitter user named Tanvir, tweeted a photo of a hospital in which two young girls were lying with critical wounds around their necks and their clothes drenched in blood. With this horrific photo, Tanvir wrote, “Mera Ramua aisa nai hai,” which says every Muslim girl is smitten by #BhagwaLoveTrap till she ends up sold in a brothel or dead. Shaheen and Sana were in love and wanted to marry their Hindu boyfriends, Karan and Nikhil. These boys took them to the jungle, raped and slit their throats.”

Tanvir Ansari’s tweet went viral within 24 hours. More than 50 individuals retweeted the photograph, and hundreds more liked it. Journalist Mohammad Sher Ali liked and retweeted the image as well.

Following that, this tweet stormed the tool kit factory. In no time, this news was shared by a slew of Twitter handles with the hashtag #bhagwalovetrap.

Fact Check

Only fact began this investigation by entering some relevant keywords related to the topic and discovered more than a few reports dated June 2021. A news outlet called “नई दुनिया” reported on June 28, 2021,’ two sisters came to Bhopal from Mandwa in quest of work. They began a relationship with Karan and Nikhil while working and started living together as live-in partners. After three years down the road, the victim began to raise concerns about marriage, and the future. And one day, the boys cajoled the girls on the pretext of marriage and later that night both boys attempted to take the lives of their partners. However, the girls were saved by a passing ambulance driver.’

On June 29, 2021, a Hindi news website called “Bhopal Samachar” also reported this incident. According to the report two sisters living in a live-in relationship were found in a serious condition in a jungle. Moreover, The Bhopal Samachar published this incident almost two years ago. Despite that, the news mentioned the fact that both accused deceived their partners and tried to take their lives.

After fact-checking, Only Fact discovered that the assertions with the viral image are misleading. This incident occurred approximately two years ago in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. It has nothing to do with the present. However, after investigating deeper into this story, it came to light that this heinous incident occurred.

With the rise in the case of love jihad, where Muslim males befriend gullible Hindu girls under the guise of love and affection only to later incur suffering of religious conversions. Therefore, in order to shift the narrative in favour of anti-Hindu Muslim extremists, the zealot Muslims are running a fake campaign called #bhagwalovetrap.
