Claim About Teen Subhan Malik Killed by Hindu Friends in Delhi Is False

Recently, a 16-year-old boy, Subhan Malik, was stabbed to death in Delhi’s Dayalpur area. A claim is being made on social media that he was killed by his friends, who have been identified as Hindus. Some users have also alleged that Subhan was killed over a biryani party. According to the claim, his Hindu friends demanded a party from Subhan, and when he refused, a scuffle broke out between them. Subsequently, in an act of revenge, the accused attacked him with a knife.

Sharing the claim, Kavish Aziz wrote, “Dayalpur Delhi, 16-year-old Hafiz-e-Quran Subhan Malik was lured out of his home by some of his own Hindu friends and stabbed to death. The alleged cause of this dispute is reported to be a ‘Biryani party.’ It is alleged that the friends had demanded a party from Subhan, and when he refused, a scuffle ensued between them. Subsequently, in an act of revenge, the accused attacked him with a knife, killing the young Hafiz-e-Quran, Subhan Malik.” (Archived link)

Karishma Aziz claimed “In the Dayalpur area of North-East Delhi, 16-year-old Hafiz-e-Quran Subhan Malik was lured out of his home by some of his own Hindu friends and stabbed to death! The dispute is reportedly over a ‘biryani party’; the allegation is that the friends had demanded a party from Subhan, and when he refused, a scuffle broke out between them, after which the accused attacked him with a knife in revenge, and Hafiz-e-Quran Subhan Malik was brutally murdered!” (Archived link)

Another handle Nikhat Ali alleged, “In Dayalpur, Delhi, 16-year-old Muslim boy Subhan Malik was brutally killed by his own friends who stabbed him multiple times with a knife. All the friends are aged between 13 and 17 years. Father Dilshad Malik says his son stepped out at 8 PM in the evening and late at night, the news came that he had been murdered. Where is all this hatred coming from that young children are turning against each other and hell-bent on killing one another.” (Archived link)

Fact Check

In our fact-check, we conducted a keyword search using terms related to the killing of 16-year-old Subhan Malik in Delhi and found a report by Punjab Kesari. According to the report, Subhan was stabbed to death by his three friends due to personal enmity.

The report states that all identified accused are minors. As per the police investigation, Subhan had been harassing one of the accused. Following this, the three accused lured Subhan away and then attacked him with a knife, stabbing him to death.

We also found a video from Tez Tarrar, in which Subhan’s father, Dilshad Malik, stated that around one week prior to the incident, a group of about 10–12 boys had beaten Subhan near Chand mosque. Subhan had recently received a cash prize after winning a competition at a madrasa. Some of his friends asked him to treat them to a biryani party, but Subhan told them that he had already handed over the prize money to his mother. Following this, those boys assaulted him.

Dilshad stated that, subsequently, three of those boys murdered Subhan. In the video, he identified two of the accused by name: Umar/Umer and Shazim. He also refuted the claim that Subhan had been harassing the accused, dismissing it as false. Throughout the entire video, Subhan’s father made no mention of any communal angle.

Additionally, we found a Facebook post by Hindustan Live Farhan Yahiya featuring Dilshad Malik. In the video, Subhan’s father names several other perpetrators named Zubair and Ayan, including Umar/Umer, Shazim, and Shazim’s uncle, who were involved in assaulting Subhan near Chand Mosque.

The Only Fact team also contacted Dayalpur SHO Paramveer Dahiya who in a phone conversation clarified that the accused and the deceased belong to the same religion, and there is no communal angle in the incident.

In conclusion, the claim that 16-year-old Subhan Malik was murdered by his Hindu friends in Delhi’s Dayalpur area is false. There is no communal angle to this incident. In reality, Subhan was murdered by three of his friends due to a personal feud. The accused have been identified as belonging to the same religion.
