On Saturday, in honour of his 72nd birthday, PM Modi released two of the eight cheetahs that had been brought from Namibia into a special enclosure at the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh as part of a programme to reintroduce the cat in India after it had been deemed extinct in the nation for seven decades. After letting the cheetahs into the enclosure, he also used a DSLR camera to take some shots, displaying his love for photography.
On the same day, Jawhar Sircar, a Rajya Sabha MP of Trinamool Congress, shared a picture of PM Modi clicking cheetahs photos in Kuno National Park. In a picture shared by Jawhar Sircar, PM Modi can be seen clicking photos using a Nikon camera whose lens was covered with a Canon cap. Poking fun at him, Jawhar wrote, “Keeping the lid on all statistics is one thing, but keeping the cover on the camera lens is sheer far-sightedness.” However, he later removed the tweet.
Another Twitter user, former IPS officer Vijay Shanker Singh, shared the same photo to mock PM Modi for using the camera in an improper way.
Many Congress party members shared the same tweet poking fun at PM Modi but later removed the tweet.
Fact Check
Our team conducted research to verify the accuracy behind the Jawhar Sircar’s tweet. With the help of reverse image tool, we came across the post by Social News XYZ. We found that PM Modi’s image had been intentionally morphed and posted by Jawhar Sircar. The original image tells a different story. It is evident in the original photo that PM Modi is using the camera in the right way and the camera lens is not being covered with cap.
Further, we found the tweet by All India Radio which makes it more evident that the photo shared by Jawhar Sircar is morphed.
