Yesterday (23rd March 2022) Mohammad Zubair, Co-Founder of Alt News, shared a news article on his Twitter account, without describing any details of the matter. It then raised a lot of wrong claims and heated discussions.

By this social media post, it seemed that the only objective of the sharing of the news headline was just to create chaos and illogical debates.

Mohammad Zubair posted about the news that Non-Hindus cannot do business in-and-around Hindu Temple premises in Karnataka.

But he intentionally did not provide the background of this rule, which has the potential of debunking all lies that have spread after his post.

Here is the point by point presentation of the facts related to this rule and the exposure of the lies.

First of all, the headline of the news piece gives a false impression that this is a new rule which is suddenly brought in the year 2022 by the ruling BJP govt in Karnataka.

However, the correct information is that, this rule was made way back in 2002 by non-other than the Congress govt in Karnataka at that time.

Yes, you read it right. This rule is not a new rule, and not incorporated by the BJP govt.

As per Rule 12 of the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowment Act, 2002, no property including land, buildings or sites situated near Hindu institutions shall be leased to Non-Hindus. This rule got incorporated in 2002 and at that time there was the Congress party’s government which was ruling the state. In October 1999, the Congress party secured a huge majority in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly election and formed the government under the Chief Ministership of SM Krishna, which lasted till 28th May 2004.

You can read the report of Indian express regarding this. it is clear now that this rule was placed by the Congress govt in 2002. But a wrong picture is getting painted that this is a wrong-doing initiated by Karnataka’s BJP govt.

The second false claim doing the rounds is that the present BJP govt in Karnataka is forcefully not allowing the Non-Hindus to do business in temple premises, and harassing the people of the other communities.

This is again dead wrong. On 23rd March 2021, Mr. J. C Madhuswamy who is Karnataka’s Minister of Law has strongly clarified in the Karnataka Assembly that the ruling government does not support such curbs at all.

So, when the state government has mentioned in clear terms that they don’t encourage such curbs and will take action against the perpetrators, where does it leave any room for any allegations about intolerance?

Inspite of all these clearances, there are still attempts to give wrong interpretations and false ideas about this rule. The leftist news portal Newsclick.in has published an article titled “ In a First, Karnataka Temple Fairs ban Muslim Shopkeepers from having Stalls “.  When the rule was made in 2002, how come the ban became a “first “ in Karnataka? How can they ignore the 20 years back rule made by the Congress government and blame the present government?

Famous Twitter users like Sakshi Joshi, Aamer Javeed, etc are all busy questioning the present govt in the state and they are once again trying to give a communal angle to this issue.

Such tactics are one more additions to bring disrepute and instability to the state of Karnataka.

Recently, the Hijab controversy created protests in many cities of the state.

In Shivamoga, Bajrang Dal activist Harsha was brutally murdered for simply making posts on social media supporting the Hijab ban in schools.

The Hon’ble High Court of Karnataka upheld the rule of uniform in schools and disallowed the wearing of Hijab in educational institutions. It was a tight slap on the face of those forces advocating the use of the Hijab.

It is clearly evident that the left forces will make every attempt to either destabilize the government or break the unity of the people. Understanding the situation with facts and having a vision for the development of the nation will surely help in beating these forces.
