On X (formerly Twitter), a user Arif Rathod sharing the video of the incident wrote, “A member of the Patidar community hurled a shoe at Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya, who is a candidate for Porbandar Lok Sabha. The incident was captured on video and rapidly became viral.”

The same video is also going viral on Facebook and it is being claimed that this incident is recent.

Fact Check
We started a research by running a relevant keyword search on Google and came across an old media report from 2017 which said that a shoe was thrown at Mansukh Mandaviya in Gujarat.
According to the Hindustan Times report, in 2017, BJP minister Mandaviya had attended a public function in Vallabhipur town in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district. Amid the function, a member of the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) threw a shoe at Mr Mandaviya. However, he missed his aim as it fell a few meters away from the stage from where the crowd was being addressed.
After this, 20-year-old college student Bhavesh Sonani, who threw the shoe, was arrested. He was booked under IPC sections 353 (assault on public servant) and 186 (obstructing public servant in his duty). The reason given behind Sonani’s action was that he was angry with the BJP government.
Moreover, we also conducted keyword search on YouTube and found several videos regarding this incident from reliable sources. ABP News had shared the same video of the incident 6 years ago with the title “Shoe hurled at Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in Gujarat.”
The description of the video reads, “A Patidaar agitation activist hurled a shoe at Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya during a public function in Vallabhipur town in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district on Sunday. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways.”
Conclusion: The video of a Patidar community member throwing a shoe at Mr. Mandaviya is an old incident. The claim of this being a recent incident is misleading.
