On Tuesday, the Supreme Court granted bail to AAP member Sanjay Singh, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) last year in the Delhi excise policy corruption case. Sanjay Singh’s release has sparked a fresh row on Twitter (formerly X), where AAP minister Saurabh Bhardwaj claimed that BJP candidate Bansuri Swaraj was among the lawyers who represented the ED in court yesterday.
Saurabh Bhardwaj wrote, “In Sanjay Singh ji’s case, among the lawyers on behalf of ED is the name of a woman from BJP and their spokesperson Bansuri Swaraj. I had said yesterday that BJP and ED are the same thing.” (Archived link)

Regarding the issue of Bansuri Swaraj’s name appearing in the list of counsel presenting ED, Bar and Bench tweeted that Bansuri Swaraj’s name had inadvertently appeared in the order issued yesterday granting Sanjay Singh bail.
Bar and Bench tweeted, “Adv Zoheb Hossain mentions error in appearance list in yesterday’s Supreme Court order granting bail to AAP MP Sanjay Singh.”
The tweet further said, “Hossain: Inadvertently the name of Ms Bansuri Swaraj is reflected. She did not appear for the Central agency.”
In short, Bansuri Swaraj’s name was mistakenly included in the list of ED’s lawyers. Zoheb Hossain told the bench headed by Justice Sanjeev Khanna that it was a blatant mistake and requested the court to remove Bansuri Swaraj’s name. Hence, the claim made by Saurabh Bhardwaj and others is misleading.
