On May 13, the Indian National Congress party won an emphatic victory in the state of Karnataka. With the victory, Congress is carrying the baggage of radical Islamists in the state. The Islamists were emboldened as soon as the result was announced. Thus, the mob of radicals in Belagavi yelled the slogan “Pakistan Zindabad.”
On Saturday evening, a particular section of people overwhelmed Belagavi with anti-India slogans. A video stormed Twitter showing a raucous crowd celebrating the win of their candidate, and amid the celebration, they raised the “Pakistan Zindabad” slogan.
However, a couple of anti-national forces tried their best to paint the slogans raised by the particular community as mere political slogans.
Mohammad Zubair, an alleged fact-checker and propagandist, wrote, “I spoke to Police Inspector Mr Dayanand from Belagavi. He says, They have not concluded if the slogans raised were “Pakistan Zindabad” OR “Asif (Raju) Sait Zindabad”. They are sending the viral video to FLS for further investigation”
Fake news peddler Mohammad Asif Khan wrote, “They are saying “Asif Sait Zindabad”. Later, in the tweet, he asked DGP Karnataka to take action.
Another Twitter user, Drunk Journalist known for Hinduphobic tweets wrote, “Asif Sait Zindabad” becomes Pakistan Zindabad for these scums. You will hear what you want to hear .”
Congress party spokesperson Lavanya Balal Jain tweeted, “Hello sir, could you please take appropriate action against this hate-mongering, who is purposely lying please.”
KarthikINC wrote, “They were shouting Asif Sait Zindabad but you guys heard Pakistan Zindabad. This is why you people have lost Karnataka today and the trend will continue so.”
One another Twitter user wrote, “Asif Sait Zindabad is being heard as Pakistan Zindabad to these deaf Sanghis.”
So, what did the crowd say, Asif Sait Zindabad or Pakistan Zindabad? We will find out soon.

Fact- Check
We began our investigation by closely listening to the video. Then we used the noise cancellation application to cancel the background ruckus. Be that as it may, we found that the “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans were raised by the jubilant Congress supporters in Belagavi.
However, to negate the feelings of biasedness, we looked for administrative action in this matter. After sifting through various tweets, we stumbled upon the tweet of Mr Alok Kumar, Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Bengaluru. He wrote that “A case is registered and needful action is being taken,” quoting the same video where slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” can be heard.
Furthermore, we began looking for the FIR copy after discovering that the police had taken prompt action in this matter. We got a copy of the FIR pertinent to this case, which stated, “Muslim boys chant slogans such as Zindabad Zindabad Pakistan Zindabad for creating a feeling of enmity between castes, ethnic linguistics or regional groups in Belagavi City.” The FIR further said the case is registered under Sections 153 and 153(b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Apart from this, an anonymous police officer at the Tilakavadi Police Station told our team that “the case has been registered and an investigation is going on.”
Nevertheless, we looked for media reports related to this case. According to IndiaTV, “Those who shouted pro-Pakistan slogans were allegedly supporters of the grand old party. The incident under Tilakvadi police station where some “excited” supporters shouted slogans “anti-national” slogans when Congress candidates secured victory against the saffron party.”
Meanwhile, Republic TV reported that ‘According to Alok Kumar, Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Karnataka, police in Belagavi have issued an FIR against miscreants for reportedly chanting Pakistan Zindabad slogans. In lieu of a social media complaint, police opened a case. The video shows a mob chanting “Pakistan Zindabad” on the streets. Some of the miscreants were also waving the flag of the Congress party, which won the May 13 assembly elections.’
Therefore, with the above information, it can be concluded that indeed “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans were raised, it was not a simple and innocent act of hailing the victorious candidate in post celebration after their candidate Asif Sait won the election. The likes of Zubair have done their utmost to portray the radical Islamists as flagbearers of innocence.
Furthermore, as the viral video is sent for Forensic Analysis by the police, we will update our reader as the investigation concludes and the report comes out.
