This incident occurred amidst ongoing scrutiny surrounding Justin Trudeau’s handling of the Khalistani terrorist Nijjar killing case, which had already tarnished the country’s reputation. However, as the world was grappling with the Nazi-welcoming controversy, an old video resurfaced featuring Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu. While some consider it recent, others criticise Netanyahu for positing a theory that suggests the former Palestinian Grand Mufti Amin-al-Husseini was deeply involved in the Holocaust’s horrific events.
Islamist social media accounts are widely circulating a seven-year-old speech by Benjamin Netanyahu, falsely presenting it as recent. These accounts vehemently deny any connection between their revered figure, the former Grand Mufti, and the Holocaust’s atrocities against Jews. Here are some X users with claims:
Anti- Semitic Iranian Literature Professor, Seyed Mohammad Marandi wrote, “Netanyahu says Hitler didn’t want to kill the Jews. A Muslim told him to do it. He’s not just racist. He’s insane.”
A devout Islamist at heart, but portrayed as a victim on X, Mohammad Akunjee wrote, “ Just wow – Benjamin Netanyahu in this ‘post fact’ interview attempting to absolve Hitler of the responsibility for the holocaust and blame Muslims for Hitlers actions instead!!! . It was Turkey and Morocco (Muslim countries) that provided sanctuary to the Jewish people during the pogroms of Isabella and Ferdinand.”
A propaganda handle, Russian Monitor tweeted, “ Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acquits Hitler, but rather accusing Palestine Nationalists for the dead of Jews in the 2nd world war. He categorically stated that Hitler had “no Intentions to kill the Jews” but only wanted to expel them. But Muhammad Amin al-Husseini, the leader of Arab nationalists in Palestine persuaded the German warlord to “Kill the Jews.”

Another Hinduphobic Islamist handles goes by the name Khaleesi wrote, “Hitler didn’t want to exterminate Jews. First Ukraine, then Canada and now this. Why are they normalizing Nazism? Doesn’t this equate to Holocaust Denial?”
First and foremost, it’s essential to make an unequivocal declaration: Adolf Hitler stands as one of the most malevolent figures to have ever lived in the 20th century. May his soul endure the suffering it deserves in the depths of hell. However, it’s crucial to recognize that Hitler did not act alone in the horrifying campaign of ethnic cleansing against Jews; he had the collaboration of his army, which we now refer to as collaborators. Many of them perished during the Second World War, while others sought refuge in North and South America. Israeli intelligence agency Mossad successfully carried out assassinations of several high-ranking Nazis, but certain individuals like the Grand Mufti managed to evade a gruesome fate, mainly because he was not of German origin. Nevertheless, this does not diminish the significance of shedding light on the Mufti’s actions for the world to comprehend.

Who was Grand Mufti Amin-al- Husseini?
A grand mufti of Jerusalem and an Arab nationalist figure who played a major role in Arab resistance to Zionist political ambitions in Palestine. He was born in 1897 and died in 1974.
In 1928, Amin initiated the first documented riots, targeting Jews, resulting in the deaths of hundreds and injuries to many more. This event marked the inaugural instance of a pogrom against Jews. The Grand Mufti then escalated his mission to eradicate Zionism from Arab territory by establishing a political party with a singular objective: the extermination of Jews. As the British held control over the region, declaring Jerusalem as the homeland for Jews, they also became a secondary target alongside the Jewish population.
During 1934-35, as Jews in Germany and Poland faced massacres at the hands of the Nazis, many sought refuge in their ancestral homeland. However, upon their return, they found themselves facing imminent danger orchestrated by Amin. Between 1936 and 1939, Arabs in Palestine, emboldened by Amin, launched deadly attacks against Jews. British forces, however, managed to quell these uprisings. Records indicate that over 500 Jews lost their lives while seeking safety in their homeland. Simultaneously, out of fear for his life, the Grand Mufti, a figure often deemed a coward, fled to Lebanon and Iraq.
Association of Grand Mufti Amin-al- Husseini with Nazis
Historians dismiss the notion that Amin actively encouraged Hitler to carry out the Holocaust, primarily due to the absence of concrete empirical evidence. The only documented meeting between Amin and Hitler occurred in 1941, by which time Hitler had already initiated concentration camps in Poland and Germany. However, a critical question arises: was there any form of communication or correspondence between them before their face-to-face encounter? Their shared animosity towards Zionists hints at a potentially different story.
The Jerusalem Post called the Grand Mufti, the Fuhrer ( Hitler) of Arab. According to the post, Amin al-Husseini narrowly missed an encounter with Adolf Eichmann during the latter’s brief visit to Palestine in October 1937. The mufti’s inability to keep this appointment with Eichmann stemmed from his flight to Jerusalem’s Haram as-Sharif, also known as the Temple Mount. He did so to evade British authorities who sought to arrest him due to his pivotal role in inciting the Great Revolt that had erupted against the Mandate a year prior. For those unfamiliar with Adolf Eichmann, it’s important to note that he played a significant role in orchestrating the Holocaust. During his 1961 trial in Israel, Eichmann divulged extensive and intricate connections with Grand Mufti Amin.
An Auschwitz survivor provided testimony, affirming that he had witnessed Husseini’s presence at the camp alongside Himmler in 1943. Moreover, numerous reports indicate that Amin resided in Berlin from 1941 to 1945. It is indisputable that his fervent opposition to Zionism earned him favor and privileges from the Nazis. Furthermore, he possessed comprehensive knowledge of the Holocaust and took pleasure in the anguish of Jewish children and the elderly.
Klaus Gensickle in his book, the Mufti of Jerusalem and the Nazis offers compelling evidence that Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, was not only a Nazi collaborator but also a significant participant in the Holocaust’s genocidal atrocities. Gensickle wrote in his book, ” Amin wanted to destroy Jews.”
Furthermore, Amin’s transgressions extended beyond this point. He obstructed the entry of Jewish men, women, and children into Palestine, with a sinister aim of preventing their escape and subjecting them to the horrors of gas chambers. In a revelatory account penned by Zvi Elpeleg, it is disclosed that Amin beseeched Turkey, the sole lifeline during the war, to halt the migration of Jews. The former Grand Mufti corresponded with the leaders of nations under Nazi occupation, asserting that if Jews were allowed to depart, they would inevitably find their way to Palestine. Consequently, the Mufti sought to close all avenues of escape for Jews, making impassioned appeals to the Nazis and entreating Turkey to deny refuge to fleeing Jewish individuals.
Elpeleg wrote, “in any case, there is no doubt that Haj Amin’s hatred was not limited to Zionism, but extended to Jews as such. His frequent, close contacts with leaders of the Nazi regime cannot have left Haj Amin any doubt as to the fate which awaited Jews whose emigration was prevented by his efforts. His many comments show that he was not only delighted that Jews were prevented from emigrating to Palestine but was very pleased by the Nazis’ Final Solution.
The malevolent influence of the Grand Mufti did not conclude there. As documented on the United States Holocaust Memorial Website, in 1943, al-Husayni became aware of negotiations involving Germany’s Axis partners, the British, the Swiss, and the International Red Cross. These negotiations aimed to transport numerous Jewish children to safety in Palestine. Al-Husayni actively endeavoured to obstruct these rescue efforts, launching protests directed at both the Germans and Italians, as well as at the governments of Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria. In his vehement opposition to these operations, he went so far as to propose that the children should be dispatched to Poland, where they would be subjected to “stricter control.”
Furthermore, alongside these nefarious schemes, the former Mufti made earnest efforts to enlist Arabs into the ranks of the Nazi army. As recorded by historian Benny Morris and corroborated by the United States Holocaust Memorial Website, Amin persistently sought to mobilize Muslims to join the Nazi cause. While the Nazis initially rejected his overtures, Amin remained unwavering in his determination to dispatch Arab Muslims to fight alongside the Nazis, driven by his fervent belief that it was imperative to furnish the Nazis with ample resources to facilitate the annihilation of Jews worldwide.
The compelling evidence outlined in this article underscores that Amin’s malevolence transcended mere anti-Semitism; it ventured into the realm of profound misanthropy. Amin masterminded the persecution of Jews between 1929 and 1936, predating Hitler’s inception of such atrocities. Upon his expulsion from Palestine, he fervently attempted to enlist Arabs to support the Nazi cause. Subsequently, he relocated to Germany, where he appears to have reveled in the horrors of the Holocaust. His animosity towards Jews reached such depths that he harbored sinister intentions, even towards innocent Jewish children, displaying a chilling degree of awareness and active participation in the Holocaust. In this context, Amin emerges as a figure akin to Adolf Hitler, Adolf Eichmann, or other high-ranking Nazi officials. As aptly characterized by the Jerusalem Post, he merits the epithet “Fuhrer of the Arab world.”
