Amidst the ongoing turmoil, a circulating one-minute video, reportedly from BBC News, showcases a young Hindu man named Vikas Garg recounting the harrowing experience of his shop being completely destroyed due to the violence.
Propaganda journalist, Kavish Aziz shared the video of Vikas Garg, alleging that the Hindu youth’s shop in Haryana’s Nuh was looted and vandalized by Hindus who mistakenly identified it as belonging to a Muslim.
Besides, journalist of the propaganda portal, Bolta Hindustan, Puneet Kumar Singh, tweeted the video and wrote that the shop of Hindu ‘Vikas Garg’ in Nuh was vandalized by saffron goons mistaking it for a Muslim shop. ‘If there is a fire, many houses will come in JD, here only our house is small’! However, he took down his tweet later.
Another pro-Congress account going by the name With Congress, wrote, “Hindu ‘Vikas Garg’ shop in Haryana Nuh was vandalized mistaking it for a Muslim shop.”

During the investigation, the complete version of the viral video was discovered on BBC News Hindi’s YouTube channel, uploaded on July 1, 2023. The video features Vikas Garg recounting the events during the riots, which occurred just before the yatra was about to begin. After the violence subsided, he returned home to find his shop looted and vandalized. Everything, including the counter, fridge, and CCTV, had been broken, and a total of 7.5 lakh rupees were stolen.
Vikas Garg revealed to the BBC reporter that they had invested all their savings into setting up the restaurant, and due to the losses, they were now facing significant financial difficulties. However, in his conversation with BBC, Vikas Garg did not mention which side of the group was responsible for looting his shop.
The question that arises is how propagandists reached the conclusion that Vikas Garg’s shop was looted by Hindus, despite him not mentioning the identity of the group responsible for the violence. Such assumptions seem to be aimed at deflecting attention from the potential involvement of Islamist groups in the unrest and shielding any extremism and intolerance associated with them. It is crucial to avoid drawing premature conclusions and to await further evidence and investigations to understand the complete picture behind the violence and its perpetrators.
Furthermore, a fact-check report by Fact Myths reveals that they reached out to Vikas Garg by contacting him. According to their conversation with him, Vikas clarified that during his interview with BBC News, he did not mention anything about the miscreants involved in the incident. He stated that the identity of the accused remains unknown to him, and he does not possess any information about them at this time.
The claim made by propagandists to advance their agenda against Hindus is deemed false and misleading. As Vikas Garg did not disclose the identity of the perpetrators responsible for the violence and looting of his shop, no definitive conclusion can be drawn.
