Nuh Violence: Pappu Qureshi Identified as Congress Worker not BJP Worker Amid Extremist Claims, Alt News Zubair Circulates Misinformation

The enduring shadows cast by the Nuh violence persist, imparting a sombre hue to the prevailing atmosphere. Within this narrative, the Muslim community’s counterarguments resound with continued insistence. Ranging from assigning responsibility to individuals identified as Monu Manesar to Bittu Bajrangi and Bajrang Dal to BJP, the steadfast inclination to point fingers remains palpable. However, in pursuit of their counter-narrative, the Muslim contingent has adopted a strategy of sharing a video on the Twitter platform. Within this video, an alleged confidant of Bittu Bajrangi, Pappu Qureshi asserts his substantial involvement in shaping the dynamics of the Nuh violence.

Amidst the backdrop of heightened communal tensions ensuing from the unrest in Haryana’s Nuh on the 31st of July, a particular video has gained traction across various social media platforms. Within this footage, an individual is observed holding cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi accountable for the violence witnessed in Nuh. The video further presents this individual asserting a decade-long affiliation with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Meer Faisal, who is deeply entrenched in the propagation of zealous Islamic ideologies, tweeted, “A BJP worker revealed how Ashok Baba and Bittu Bajrangi, two Hindutva extremists, planned the Haryana violence.”

The National spokesperson of RLD, Bhupendra Chaudhary, copy-pasted the Meer Faisal tweet and shared it with his own account.

Islamist Wasim Akram Tyagi tweeted the video and wrote that BJP workers themselves are telling who is involved in this violence on Noah violence. But the bulldozer of the CM Khattar government will not work on those rioters whose names have been given by the BJP worker himself.

Besides the usual anti-India and Hindu hate mongers, we find that this video is shared by Aurangzeb worshipper Sadaf Afreen, fake news peddlers like Nargis Bano, Ind story and Mohhmad Hussain.

Consequently, the pivotal query that surfaces demands an examination of whether the fervent proponent of cow veneration, Bittu Bajrangi, can be attributed with accountability for the Nuh violence. Additionally, it becomes imperative to scrutinize the validity of the aforementioned video’s assertions when juxtaposed against the bedrock of reality. In the pursuit of accuracy, a thorough fact-check is warranted.

Upon thorough investigation, the complete segment of the widely circulated video was traced back to a YouTube channel identified as SHAMS 7 NEWS. Within the confines of this video, an individual identifying himself as Pappu Qureshi comes forward. Notably, at the 14-minute and 25-second mark, Pappu Qureshi presents a visual depiction wherein he is pictured donning the BJP flag around his neck. In this visual representation, he claims a decade-long affiliation with the Bharatiya Janata Party, asserting his status as a dedicated party worker for this duration.

Subsequent to this, an extensive search was undertaken through Google, leading to the discovery of a video on the ‘Faridabad News‘ Facebook page. In this video, Pappu Qureshi makes an appearance. The video itself was posted on the 1st of May 2019. The content of the video alludes to Pappu Ikram Qureshi, a Congress leader, orchestrating a comprehensive arrangement to accord a welcome to the Faridabad Lok Sabha Congress candidate, Avtar Singh Bhadana. Regrettably, Avtar Bhadana was conspicuously absent from the event, leaving Pappu Qureshi disheartened and sensing a sentiment of humiliation.

Notably, the video implies a shift in allegiance towards supporting Modi and underscores the potential impact of this change on the Congress party. The video emanating from ‘Faridabad News’ distinctly communicates that Pappu Qureshi, a Congress leader, had meticulously organized a reception for the party’s Lok Sabha candidate, Avtar Singh Bhadana, yet Bhadana’s absence from the event remained conspicuous.

Pappu Qureshi said, ‘We had scheduled a program for Avatar Singh Bhadana, and they had given us an appointment for the evening of 30 April 2019. We were ready to welcome our candidate, we had a program of 4 to 5 thousand people. But Avtar Singh Bhadana did not come. They are joking with our community and society. We are wholeheartedly engaged, watching Rahul-Sonia Gandhi. Our fathers and grandfathers have been Congressmen……. We want respect, we want respect. If we do not get respect for our community, then we can take the next step….. If we do not get respect, then we will join hands with Modi ji.” Moreover, The letter pad of the Congress party is also visible in the same video, in which Pappu Qureshi has been described as the chairman of the minority department, Faridabad.”

Further investigations led to the discovery of an additional video on the same ‘Faridabad News’ YouTube channel. Uploaded on the 2nd of May 2019, this video features BJP MP Krishan Pal Gurjar formally inducting Pappu Qureshi and his associates into the BJP.

Moreover, another video was traced to the ‘Faridabad News’ Facebook page, posted on the 10th of May 2019. In this particular video, subsequent to his affiliation with the BJP, Pappu Qureshi expresses a profound connection to the party from within, asserting that his allegiance transcends religious boundaries, signifying that he does not merely identify as a Muslim.

In a later phase of our inquiry, we delved into Pappu Qureshi’s Facebook profile, where we uncovered a live broadcast video dated 29th July 2023. Within this video, Pappu Qureshi explicitly states, “I am an ardent supporter and voter of the Congress party in the Faridabad NIT Assembly constituency. However, the presence of Congress MLA Neeraj Sharma in the Assembly has been conspicuously absent. The concerns of the constituency, such as road deterioration and accidents, seem to be of little consequence to them.”

Subsequently, we located another video, dated 12th May 2023, on the ‘Faridabad News’ YouTube channel. This video substantiates a longstanding conflict between the two parties. In the video titled ‘Bajrang Dal Workers Lodge Protest Against Pappu Qureshi at Saran Police Station,’ it is revealed that Pappu Qureshi had lodged a complaint against Bajrang Dal. Allegedly, he accused them of disrupting street vendors and subjecting the underprivileged to harassment.

Herein, a chronological delineation is presented, elucidating the trajectory that dispels any ambiguity surrounding Pappu Qureshi’s political affiliations, whether with the BJP or Congress.

In April 2019, Pappu Qureshi was aligned with the Congress party. However, circumstances transpired such that local Congress leader Avatar Singh Bhandana seemingly disregarded Qureshi’s presence, thereby leaving Qureshi with a sense of indignation.

Subsequently, in May 2019, following a perceived lack of respect from Congress leaders, Pappu Qureshi opted to align himself with the BJP.

Nonetheless, spanning the timeframe between 2019 and 2023, Qureshi’s political allegiance underwent a reversal, as he once again assumed a mantle of support for the Congress. This shift was anticipated, considering Qureshi’s previous mention of his ancestral ties to the Congress party.

What presents a source of intrigue is the alt-news propaganda fact-checker Muhammad Zubair, in substantiating Pappu Qureshi’s allegiance to the BJP. In this endeavour, Zubair seems intent on validating the veracity of Qureshi’s allegations against Bittu Bajrangi, presuming them to be authentic due to Qureshi’s supposed BJP association in 2019. Yet, this stratagem did not yield the desired outcome for Zubair, subsequently backfiring him for his manipulated counter with old video.

Zubair shared a dated video from 2019 wherein Pappu Qureshi ostensibly identifies himself as a BJP adherent. While deliberately ignoring the latest video where Qureshi identifies himself to be a Congress man.

However, what adds another layer of astonishment to this unfolding narrative is the conspicuous omission of Pappu Qureshi’s name in the discourse surrounding his alleged BJP affiliation. Remarkably, a multitude of individuals with a particular ideological bent collectively referred to him as a BJP worker, a claim that was propagated across these quarters with fervour.

As we approach the conclusion, it is our assertion that Pappu Qureshi stands as a supporter of the Congress party and holds the position of a local leader within the party’s ranks in Faridabad. While it is evident that he entered into a strategic alignment with the BJP driven by opportunism, Qureshi eventually returned to the Congress fold. This reconnection resonates with the legacy of his forefathers, whose allegiances have consistently gravitated towards the Congress party.

Well, Bhimrao Ambedkar rightly said, “The brotherhood of Islam is not the universal brotherhood of man. It is a brotherhood of Muslims for Muslims only. There is a fraternity, but its benefit is confined to those within that corporation. For those who are outside the corporation, there is nothing but contempt and enmity.”
