On May 2, 2023, a video went viral on social media in which a man is carrying a girl child on his shoulder running and shouting on the road. In the video, he can be heard shouting, Daughters are being killed and the Modi government is responsible. However, a Twitter user named Ahasan Anjum shared the viral video and claimed that a 5-year-old innocent girl was raped in Delhi whose father took her towards the Parliament House and alleged that the Modi government is responsible.
AAP supporter Bhagat Singh shared the viral video and claims that the father of a 5-year-old girl is in pain because his innocent daughter was raped in Delhi. Bhagat Singh further claims that father of the 5-year-old daughter alleges that the Modi government has a hand in all the rapes in the country.
Furthermore, another Twitter handle named Suraj Raj also made similar claims.
So, is it true that the 5-year-old daughter of a father who is protesting near the parliament was raped? Let’s Fact Check.

During our investigation, we first conducted a reverse video search of the viral video. During this, we came across the same video in a Facebook post posted by Rohit Roy on December 5, 2019. This video featured the same visuals as the viral video but with a slightly different context. According to this Facebook post, a father reached in front of the parliament with his little daughter to protest against the rapes. But he was arrested immediately by the police. The FB post further claims that Daughters are not safe under PM Modi’s leadership and there is an atmosphere of fear in the country. However, nowhere in the post, he mentioned that the girl who is being carried by the man on his shoulders was raped.
Next, we came across a Youtube video uploaded on the official channel of Bolta Hindustan on December 5, 2023, that showed the reality of the incident. This video also featured the same visuals as the viral video. However, this video shows that Congress leader Sachin Chaudhary was arrested by the police while he was protesting with his daughter in front of the parliament against rape. In this video, Sachin Chaudhary can be heard saying that daughters are being killed and the Modi government is responsible. Besides, nowhere in this video also it was mentioned that the girl in the video was raped.
After this, we conducted keyword research with the words, Police arrested congress leader who came to protest outside parliament with his daughter. During this, we came across a report published by Patrika on December 5, 2019. According to this report also, congress leader Sachin Chaudhary reached outside the parliament to protest with his daughter against the increasing sexual violence against women in different areas of the country. Besides, this report also didn’t mention anywhere that his daughter was raped.
Apart from this, during our research, we also came across a tweet by the official Twitter handle of Delhi Police from May 2, 2023, warning people not to share false information. In this tweet, Delhi Police wrote that a Few handles are sharing an old video of a protest held in December 2019 at Kartavya Path, claiming to be the video of the father of a five-year-old rape victim. Such information is false and malicious. People are advised not to share such wrong information.
Hence, all these points prove that the claims made by Ahasan Anjum, Bhagat Singh, and Surya Raj that the girl who is being carried by a man in the video protesting near the parliament was raped are false and misleading.
