A picture of a survivor in Morbi bridge collapse tragedy has gone viral on social media in which it is being claimed that plaster on his leg was changed before the arrival of the PM. That picture has heaped a lot of condemnation at the BJP government from oppositions.
PM Modi visited and examined the site of the Morbi bridge tragedy on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, and then met and talked with survivors of the tragedy.
Many Twitter users, including Abhijeet Dipke, the fake news peddler Vinod Kapri, left-leaning journalists Rohini Singh and troll Swati Chaturvedi, have shared survivor’s picture in their tweet mocking the PM.
Fact Check
In our research, using keyword search “Morbi tragedy survivors admitted in Morbi civil hospital”, we found a video by Lallantop shared on their YouTube channel on November 2, 2022. In the start of the video, a reporter is heard questioning a survivor named Ashwin, whose photo has gone popular on social media, about his plaster. In response, Ashwin stated that he had a little bandage placed around his leg previously, but after an X-ray was taken, it was discovered that he had a fracture in his foot, therefore plaster was tied around his leg.

Further, we found a tweet reply from Lallantop’s reporter, Abhinav Pandey, who stated in a response to Abhijeet Dipke’s claim that a survivor knee had been injured. A raw plaster was applied. He had a plaster on his leg while Abhinav was reporting on the night of October 31, 2022.
Therefore, the claim that the plaster on the leg of the Morbi tragedy victim was changed before the Prime Minister’s arrival is misleading.
