A news of a Dalit youth being beaten up by a group of men and a screwdriver doused in petrol being inserted into his private parts on suspicion of stealing Rs 500 in Nagaur, Rajasthan is being shared on X (formerly Twitter) with the claim that this incident happened recently.

Kashif Arsalan (archived link), an Islamist propagandist and a serial fake news peddler, shared a video of the incident and wrote, “A Dalit youth was beaten up and petrol was poured on his private parts by a group of men for stealing Rs 500. “Put a screw driver in.” In Nagaur.”

Propaganda portal The Observer Post (archived link) wrote, “A Dalit youth in Nagaur, Rajasthan, was reportedly subjected to horrific torture as a screwdriver soaked in petrol was inserted into his private parts over an alleged theft of Rs 500.”

@/akaal_sewak (archived link), a Hinduphobe account known for promoting fake and hateful content against Hindus, wrote, “Yes, I am so glad you are a cHindu. A group of men thrashed and inserted a screw driver in the anus of a Dalit youth in Nagaur India for allegedly stealing 500 rupees.’

X user Syed Hassan Imam Zaidi (archived link) wrote, “#Rajasthan , Nagaur| A group of men beat up a #Dalit youth and inserted a screw driver doused in Petrol in his “Private Part” for allegedly stealing Rs 500.”

Another X user (archived link) wrote, “The video is being shared from “Nagaur” city of #Rajasthan. In which some crowd is beating a #Dalit youth on the charge of stealing ₹ 500 and pouring petrol on his “Private Part.”

In the start of our research, we ran the keyword search “Dalit youth beaten on suspicion of theft in Nagaur” and found a report by Dainik Bhaskar. According to the report, the incident is four years old and not recent. In the report, we also found the same video which is now going viral on X.

The report states that the according to the victim on February 16, 2020, he reached the bike service agency around 2:30pm. As soon as he passed the cash counter, the accused accused him of theft and beat him with rubber fan belts and fists. Then he tied a cloth in front of an iron screwdriver and poured petrol on Visaram’s private parts. According to the accused, Visaram had taken out 50 thousand rupees from the bag and ran away.

Nagaur police immediately took cognizance of the case and within 12 hours of investigation, arrested all the seven accused who brutally beat the Dalit youth.

Furthermore, we also found the First Information Report (FIR) registered in the year 2020. The complaint was registered under sections Indian Penal Code (IPC) 342, 323, 341,143, 3(1)(r), 3(1)(S), 3(2)(va) against Shri Bhinv Singh, Aidan Singh, Jasu Singh, Sawai Singh, Lichhman Singh, Hadman Singh, and Ganpatram.

Conclusion: The news of a Dalit youth being beaten up by a group of men in Nagaur on suspicion of theft is four years old. The accused were immediately arrested and an FIR was registered against them on February 16, 2020.
