A video is viral on social media with the claims that a Muslim youth was tortured in a cow slaughter case in Uttar Pradesh. A stick was inserted into his private parts and an electric shock was also applied. However, investigation reveals that this incident of the year 2022 is viral with misleading claims.

Radical Islamist Kashif Arsalaan shared the viral video on X and wrote, In Uttar Pradesh – Five police officers tortured a Muslim man on suspicion of being involved in cow slaughter by inserting a stick into his rectum and giving him electric shocks. UP Police should immediately suspend all of them, or openly issue an official statement that we will provide security only to a particular community, Muslims should protect themselves.

Wajid Khan wrote, Sanghi rule is running in Uttar Pradesh Police Five police officers tortured a Muslim man on suspicion of being involved in cow slaughter by inserting sticks into his rectum and giving him electric shocks. Hearing this news anyone will call the police goons.

X handle Daman and Diu Congress Sevadal wrote, Jungle Raj, not Ram Rajya in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh – Five UP Police officers tortured a Muslim man and gave him electric shocks on suspicion of being involved in cow slaughter.

Propagandist Ali Sohrab wrote, In the name of beef, officers of the constitutional police, while giving constitutional lectures, tortured a Muslim man, inserted a stick into the Muslim man’s rectum, and gave him electric shocks. “Everything else is fine.”

Apart from this, other X handlers named farheen Khan, Aafrin, Muhammad Tanveer, Shahavaj Anjum, Kanhaiya Kumar, etc also shared the same viral video on X and made similar claims.

Fact Check

During investigation, we Google reverse searched different screenshots of the viral video and found a video report on the YouTube channel of ‘The Quint’ uploaded on June 6, 2022. The visuals of the viral video has been used in this video report. The report states that a youth, Rihan, was arrested at Kakrala police post in Alapur, Badaun. The victim’s family alleges that Rihan was tortured on the accusation of bike theft.

After this, we found a report published on Dainik Jagran on June 6, 2022. According to this report, in the case of assaulting Rihan, apart from the Station Incharge Satyapal, Constables Narendra, Shekhar, Sonu, Vipin, and two others, a case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act for corruption, physical assault, issuing threats, causing serious injuries, and creating disturbances against all seven accused. Subsequently, the Station in charge and five police personnel were suspended. Additionally, we obtained a copy of the FIR filed against the police officers involved in this incident. The victim’s mother had made serious allegations against the police officers, mentioning bike theft in connection to this case.”

Furthermore, during our investigation, we also found the statement of Dr. VK Chaudhary of Bulandshahr Hospital. In his statement, he said that Rihan was treated here in Bulandshahr Hospital. He further said that the victim’s family did not say anything about the youth being beaten or the stick being inserted in his private part.

Hence, It is clear from our investigation that the police were not accused of torturing the youth on suspicion of being involved in cow slaughter but on bike theft charges. In this case, a case was registered against the policemen and they were also suspended. Moreover, the viral video is a two year old incident.
