A picture of Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde having meal with famous YouTuber Kamiya Jani alias Curly Tails is going viral. It is being claimed that on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami on 17th April, Eknath Shinde had visited Umred village located in Nagpur district. There he ate non-vegetarian food, mutton, with Kamiya Jani.

Congress volunteer, Priyamwada, sharing the picture wrote, “CM of Maharashtra Mr. Shinde savouring Nagpur’s Savji mutton on the auspicious day of Ram Navami. Today CM was in Nagpur for election campaign. Just yesterday PM was moaning about opposition leaders eating meat & how Hindu sentiments are hurt blah blah: All Anti Hindus are found in BJP. Today BJP appointed CM feasting on meat that too on auspicious Hindu festival of Ram Navami.” The tweet has so far garnered 5.4k likes (Archived link)

The handle Priyanca Patil asserted, “The media’s hypocrisy was evident when they made a big deal out of Tejaswi Yadav eating fish during Navratri but conveniently looked the other way when Eknath Shinde consumed mutton. It’s a clear example of selective outrage.” (Archived link)

On April 17, on the occasion of Ram Navami, CM Eknath Shinde visited Nagpur to campaign for Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency candidate Raju Parve. The last phase of campaigning is going on in Vidarbha. During his visit Eknath Shinde visited Marwari Ram temple in Umred.

Famous YouTuber Kamiya Jani aka Curly Tails also joined him. She is an Indian travel blogger, content creator and entrepreneur best known for her platform “Curly Tales”. She is famous for exploring different destinations, cultures and cuisines. In some of her videos, she is seen having brunch with notable figures from diverse industries.

Similarly, at Umred she dined with Eknath Shinde. To get an insight into what meal they had, we scrutinized through the social media platforms of Kamiya. On Instagram, she shared a video of her dining with the CM. The intertitle accompanying the video reads, “Authentic veg saoji meal with CM Eknath Shinde.” Further in the caption, she stated that on the occasion of Ram Navami, she along with Eknath Shinde enjoyed vegetarian Saoji food prepared by a local woman of the village. Saoji is the signature dish of Nagpur.

The meal included eggplant curry (brinjal bharta) and patwadi or patodi. Eggplant curry is made from roasted brinjal. It is usually made by mixing crushed or chopped tomatoes, onions, garlic, ginger and some spices. The second dish, Patwadi, is a famous dish of Maharashtra, which is made from gram flour.

Conclusion: The claim that Eknath Shinde ate mutton on Ram Navami is false. In Umred village he had pure vegetarian Saoji food with Kamiya Jani.
