Congress party leaders released a 19-second video asserting that India’s Road Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari, purportedly stated in an interview that, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, discontent prevails among villages, the impoverished, laborers, and farmers. Allegedly, the minister claimed there is a lack of quality roads, access to clean drinking water, well-equipped hospitals, and good schools in rural areas.

Congress party wrote on X, ‘Today the villages, poor, laborers and farmers are unhappy. There are no good roads, no pure water to drink, no good hospitals, no good schools in the villages.’

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said, ‘ Today the villages, the poor, the laborers and the farmers are sad. Farmer’s crop does not get good price.’

Journalist Ashutosh tweeted, ‘If everything is good under Modi’s rule then why does Gadkari see everything as bad?’

INC supporter Ashish Singh tweeted, ‘Today the villages, poor, laborers and farmers are unhappy. There are no good roads, no pure water to drink, no good hospitals, no good schools in the villages. Modi government minister Nitin Gadkari accept Truth!’

Congress Party worker Vijay Thottathil wrote, ‘Nitin Gadkari Ji saying rural people & farmers are not happy because they don’t have proper roads, water or any other facilities & farmers don’t get proper value for their crop!’

Congress worker Shantanu tweeted, ‘In today’s time, people in rural areas, poor people, our farmers and labourers are unhappy.’

Sixteen minutes into the interview, Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, delved into a discussion on the agricultural sector’s contribution to the GDP. He elucidated on the factors motivating individuals to opt for urbanization, attributing it to the absence of well-constructed roads, adequately equipped hospitals, and quality educational institutions—essential elements for an improved standard of living. Furthermore, Gadkari emphasized that under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance, concerted efforts are being made to enhance the economic viability of farming through the development of urban and semi-urban areas.

Nitin Gadkari mentioned that the rise in prices of things like fertilizers, insecticides, cement, and steel has made farming less profitable. To address this, he suggested that farmers shift towards the energy and power sector. He believes farmers can not only provide food but also energy. He shared an example where mustard straw in Panipat is used to generate vitamins, creating a new avenue for farmers. Gadkari explained that Indian Oil is now using straw to produce ethanol, bio-vitamins, and bio-aviation fuel. He emphasized that although agriculture contributes 12% to the country’s GDP, it depends on a population of 65%. He highlighted the challenges in rural areas like poor infrastructure, lack of clean water, and inadequate facilities. Gadkari shared the government’s efforts to develop aspirant blocks and districts, aiming for balanced growth. He stressed the importance of farmers producing ethanol and green hydrogen to make them prosperous and boost employment in villages.
