During our fact-check research, we extracted key frames from the video and conducted a reverse image search. During this, we found the same video posted on a Facebook page named Sabuj Anowar Hossain Business on September 17, 2025.
According to the post’s caption, the girl in the video is named Anika, who was caught stealing money from a shop at Mirpur College Market in Bangladesh. The post further states that she is a resident of Wazirpur in Barisal and previously worked at a garment factory.
The same video was also shared by Bead Tube Master News, a news media based in Dhaka. The post included hashtags such as Dhaka and Chattogram, clearly indicating that the incident involving a Muslim girl accused of theft reportedly took place in Bangladesh.
In conclusion, the video showing a Muslim girl being assaulted by a grocery store owner is not from Uttar Pradesh. The clip dates back to September 17, 2025, and is actually from Bangladesh. Hence, claims attributing the incident to Uttar Pradesh are misleading.
