A video showing the funeral procession of an Indian Army soldier is going viral on social media. The video is being shared with the claim that the body of Indian Army Naik Hare Ram Kunwar reached his native village in Bhojpur, Bihar, after he was killed in a militant attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharing the video, the handle Hawk’s Eye wrote, ‘The liquidated body of Indian Army Naik Heer Ram Kanwar has reached his native village, Bhojpur in Bihar. He was one of the ten Indian soldiers killed in a resistance attack by Kashmiri fighters in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In our fact-check, we conducted a keyword search which led us to an Times of India report published on January 24, 2026. As per the report, Hare Ram Kunwar did not die in a militant attack but in a accident. On Saturday, the last rites of 38-year-old Hare Ram Kunwar were performed with full military honours at the Mahuli ghat in Bhojpur, Bihar.

According to a report by Jagran, the accident occurred on January 23 on the Bhaderwah–Chamba inter-state road at Khanni Top, located at an altitude of around 9,000 feet, in which 10 Indian Army personnel lost their lives. The incident took place when the driver of the bulletproof Casspir vehicle lost control, causing the vehicle to fall into a 200-foot-deep gorge.
