Old Blaze Video Falsely Linked to Iran’s Attack on Haifa Port

A video showing a massive blaze is going viral on social media, with claims that it depicts an Iranian missile attack on Israel’s Haifa port amid the ongoing escalation between Israel and Iran, which began on June 13, 2025.

Sayyad Kaif claimed, ‘Iran sets terrorist state’s Haifa oil refinery ablaze.’

Hafid Derradaji wrote, ‘The Iron Dome completely collapsed in Haifa, buildings were destroyed, and a fire broke out in an oil refinery this morning as a result of Iranian shelling.’

Inspire Trail stated, ‘Israel’s Haifa oil refinery caught fire due to Iranian ballistic missile attacks.’

Elvideohat, Alrubaeay Mahmod, Mamertos and Almarsd news shared the same clip with similar claims.

Fact Check

We began our fact-checking process by performing a reverse image search of the viral video. The results showed that the video had already been shared on Facebook on April 29, 2025, with the caption, “A huge fire has broken out in Israel. It has not been controlled yet.” 

This confirms that the video has been available online since at least April 29 and is unrelated to the current escalation between Israel and Iran, which began on June 13.
