A video of an MG Gloster car with the VIP number plate DL11CM0001 is going viral on social media. It is being claimed that newly appointed Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta purchased a ₹50 lakh car for herself within 48 hours of taking the oath. Additionally, social media users are alleging that there is no difference between former CM Arvind Kejriwal and BJP’s CM Rekha Gupta, as both embrace VIP culture and privileges.

INC news shared, ‘BJP’s hypocrisy exposed -As soon as Rekha Gupta became the Chief Minister of Delhi, she first bought a car worth Rs 50 lakh for herself. These same hypocrites of BJP were creating a ruckus about Arvind Kejriwal’s car worth Rs 20 lakh.’

Anahat Sagar posted, ‘Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is roaming around in a car worth Rs 50 lakh. As soon as they came they started wasting tax payers money.’

Tanmoy stated, ‘Kejriwal vs Rekha Gupta. As soon as #RekhaGupta became the Chief Minister of Delhi, She first bought a Car worth ₹50 lakh for herself. Arvind Kejriwal has a Car worth ₹20 lakhs. Kejriwal’s ₹20 lakh car was one of the BJP’s issues in the Delhi Elections2025.’

Prem Kumar, Anuj Indrawal, Sandeep Khasa, and Dinesh Purohit shared a similar claim.

Fact Check

We began our fact-checking process by conducting a reverse image search of the viral video. During our search, we found an ANI post on X dated February 12, 2024, which stated, “Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal leaves from his residence in Delhi. CM Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart, Bhagwant Mann, will visit Ayodhya today to pay obeisance at the recently inaugurated Ram Temple.”

Notably, in the video, former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is seen traveling in the MG Gloster with the registration number DL11CM0001, the same car that is now being claimed to be in the possession of newly appointed Delhi CM Rekha Gupta.

Additionally, we found another ANI post from February 9, 2025, showing former Delhi CM Atishi leaving her residence and heading to Raj Niwas to submit her resignation. Interestingly, Atishi was also seen traveling in the same MG Gloster DL11CM0001, further debunking the claim that Rekha Gupta recently purchased this vehicle.

Moreover, a YouTube video from ET Now, shared on February 20, 2025, reported, “Rekha Gupta rides Arvind Kejriwal’s former official car for the oath ceremony.”

Furthermore, we found a report published by the National Herald on July 10, 2022, which revealed that, according to an RTI response, the Delhi government spent ₹1.44 crore since 2014 to purchase vehicles for then-CM Arvind Kejriwal. Additionally, ₹45 lakh was spent on vehicles for former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. The report also stated that Kejriwal had been seen as recently as April 2022 traveling in an MG Gloster worth ₹36 lakh, as well as in a Toyota Innova and a Mahindra Alturas G4, both costing over ₹32 lakh.

Claim Rekha Gupta purchased a car worth 50 lakhs.
Claimed bySocial media users
Fact Check MG Gloster DL11CM0001 is an official government vehicle that has been used by multiple Delhi CMs, including Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi, before Rekha Gupta. Hence, the claim that Rekha Gupta bought a new car worth ₹50 lakh within 48 hours of taking office is misleading and false.
