Video of Woman Converting to Islam Unrelated to California Wildfire

California is currently facing severe wildfires, with at least 24 confirmed fatalities. Amidst this, a video is going viral on social media in which a woman says that her name is Brooklyn and that she converted to Islam from Christianity. This video is being linked to the ongoing California wildfires.

Sharing the video, the X handle Mahin wrote, “A woman from Brooklyn, America accepted Islam. She became emotional while talking about the beauty of Islam.” (Archived link)

Fact Check

In our fact-checking research, we first conducted a keyword search but found no reports online about a woman in the USA converting to Islam amidst the ongoing devastating wildfires in California.

Next, we extracted keyframes from the video and used advanced search tools to perform a reverse image search. During this process, we discovered a Facebook post from March 16, 2022, where the same video was uploaded with the caption: “Brooklyn from the USA, she converted to Islam. May Allah guide us. There is no happy ending except for one who dies and Allah (SWT) is satisfied with them.” (Archived link)
