Social media users shared a video from the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, showing heads of state from member nations participating in a group photo session. Alongside the video, social media users claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin did not invite Prime Minister Modi to join the photo session.

Manakdeep Singh asserted, ‘Singh is King always.’

We began our fact-checking process by conducting a reverse image search on the viral video. This led us to discover that the video was shared by ANI on October 24, accompanied by the caption: “EAM Dr. S. Jaishankar with heads of delegations at Kazan Expo International Exhibition Center, at the 16th BRICS Summit in the BRICS Plus format.”

Additionally, a news article from The Hindu reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a two-day visit to Kazan, Russia, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, to participate in the 16th summit of the BRICS (Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa) grouping.

We also reviewed the BRICS website for activities on October 24, which confirmed that the “BRICS Plus/Outreach Plenary Session at the 16th BRICS Summit” was held on that date.
