The continuous spread of false news and propaganda in India is becoming a serious social challenge for the country. Social media platforms have now become a medium to spread hatred and violence. There has been a significant increase in inflammatory content on platforms like X and Facebook. In such a situation, many fact-checking platforms like us are trying to counter fake news. A website Alt News claims to be fact-checking but the amazing thing is that the co-founder of this site, Mohammed Zubair himself, has been spreading fake news extensively. If you are even a little active on social media, then at some point in time, you must have come across his tweets in support of anti-Hindus or Jihadis. ‘Only Fact’ has caught Mohammed Zubair red-handed many times, spreading fake news in the name of a fact checker. It is also surprising that after sharing fake news, Zubair never bothered to fact-check it.

Is Mohammed Zubair, the flag bearer of communal harmony?
On January 26 this year, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin honored Zubair with the Communal Harmony Award. But does Zubair really deserve this honor? What role he plays in creating communal harmony in society should also be investigated.
In 2022 Nupur Sharma had come to take part in a debate on Times Now regarding the Gyanvapi ‘Masjid’. During the debate she said that people are constantly making fun of the Hindu faith. If this is the case then she can also make fun of other religions. For this she can mention Islamic beliefs. The edited video clip of their debate was shared by Mohammed Zubair on his ex (formerly Twitter). In fact, after the claim of Shivling in Gyanvapi, Hindu society started being mocked on social media by calling mixer machine, breaker on footpath, fountain, litchi, male’s private part as Shivling but the flag bearer of communal harmony Mohammed Zubair remained silent while when Nupur Sharma responded, Zubair shared the edited video of Nupur Sharma.
Mocking it, b’coz they know they can. pic.twitter.com/sjdODo45CG

Along with this, Zubair forced the heads of states of Islamic countries to take a stand against India by adopting the ‘principle of Ummah’. Zubair continuously tagged the heads of states of Islamic countries in his edited videos due to which the Nupur Sharma controversy gained so much momentum that Arab countries summoned the ambassadors of India and registered their protest. After this, Bharatiya Janata Party suspended Nupur Sharma from the primary membership of the party till the completion of the investigation.
Zubair’s actions led to violence in many parts of the country. Also, Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, Rajasthan, Veterinary Chemist Umesh Prahlad Rao Kolhe in Amravati, Maharashtra, Praveen Nettaru in South Kannada, Karnataka were killed by Muslims. Apart from this, Prateek Pawar was attacked with a sword in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, Mukesh Tiwari was beaten in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, Ayush Jadam was also attacked in Agar, Madhya Pradesh. People from the Muslim community were also arrested for threatening to kill a businessman in Surat, Gujarat. There is a long list of such cases. After which there was a situation of tension in many states.
It is also surprising that Mohammad Zubair himself has made objectionable comments against the Hindu community. Sharing multiple screenshots of Zubair’s Facebook post, an X handle, ‘Hawk Eye’, wrote, Its easy to make fun of other’s god, religion, culture & scriptures, because there is no consequences. Ironically its coming from same person who triggered an event that took entire nation on ransom, and the violent mayhem is still on.. Ever tried this for own …?

Take a look at Hιnduphobιc posts done by @zoo_bear co-founder of @AltNews, all these posts hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus and this is just an iota of his thoughts(Which he forgot to delete).

Don’t forget that he is the man who instigated bIαsphemy charges on Nupur. pic.twitter.com/5I6XAxFxrG

Mohammed Zubair is a well-wisher of Umar Khalid
Mohammad Zubair is a supporter of JNU alumnus Umar Khalid. Mohammad Zubair has publicly supported Umar Khalid in several of his posts on X. Zubair has described Umar Khalid as his inspiration in a post on X.
Wish you a Happy Birthday @UmarKhalidJNU Bhai. You are an inspiration. #HappyBirthdayUmar #MorePowerToUmar pic.twitter.com/UyJscvzFo6
— Mohammed Zubair (@zoo_bear) August 11, 2022
Yes I stood with Umar Khalid Bhai. I Will Stand with him NOW AND FOR EVER! ✊#StandWithUmarKhalid
— Mohammed Zubair (@zoo_bear) December 31, 2023
Not just me, Every True Indian will stand by Umar Khalid and other activists who were framed.
Actual rioters are still protected and are free, despite their live videos during… pic.twitter.com/AogY5joVYT
But it is worth noting here that Mohammad Zubair’s inspiration, Umar Khalid, is a supporter of a terrorist. There was a terrorist attack on the Indian Parliament in 2001. On December 13, 2001, five terrorists from terrorist groups named Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba carried out a terrorist attack on the country’s Parliament. In this attack, five Delhi Police personnel, a woman constable of CRPF and two security guards present in the Parliament were martyred. Later all these terrorists were killed by the security forces. Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Mohammed Afzal Guru was the mastermind of this case, on the orders of the Supreme Court of India, Afzal Guru was hanged in the Tihar Jail of Delhi on the morning of 9 February 2013.
In the year 2016, a program was organized in JNU on the death anniversary of Afzal Guru. Anti-national slogans were raised in this program in which 90 witnesses have been made in the charge sheet of about 1200 pages filed in the court by the Special Cell. The charge sheet said the 2016 incident was the result of a well-planned conspiracy during which anti-national slogans were raised.
Slogans of destruction of India were raised in this program of JNU. Umar Khalid was involved in these slogans, in a video he said that how many Afzals will you kill, Afzal will come out from every house. How many Maqbools you kill, Maqbool will emerge from every house. In another video, Umar Khalid described Kashmir as an area under Indian occupation.
It is worth noting here that like Afzal Guru, Maqbool Bhatt was also a terrorist who was hanged inside Tihar Jail on 11 February 1984. Umar Khalid has also supported terrorist Burhan Wani in one of his Facebook posts. Burhan was killed in an encounter on 8 July 2016. There was a reward of Rs 10 lakh on him.
Conclusion: Our investigation reveals that Mohammad Zubair has shared many fake news over the years. Most of these fake news are against BJP-Modi. In such matters, Zubair does not keep his work but his agenda paramount. Zubair has also been continuously posting hate posts against the Hindu community.
