Troll Rofl Gandhi shares cropped video to show PM Modi refuse to accept Lord Ganesha idol to pose for camera

Rofl Gandhi 2.0, the troll account and Congress supporter, tweeted the 11 seconds video clip of PM Narendra Modi. In the 11-second video clip, it can be seen that the Prime Minister is attending a cultural event, and while posing for the camera, a guy on stage brings an idol of the Hindu deity Lord Ganesha, but PM Modi refuses to take the idol and asks the man to stand away.

While tweeting the video, the Twitter user Rofl Gandhi, wrote, “Brother, he is a god at his place, here I am the god.” With this caption, the Congress troll tried to portray the PM refusing to take the idol in order to pose for the camera.

The same video with the same claim was also tweeted by Gautam Nautiyal, the social media National Coordinator of the Indian National Congress Party.

Besides, another Twitter user tweeting the same video wrote, “This man is four steps ahead from the real Raja babu.”

Fact Check

We took a screengrab from the 11-second video clip and performed a reverse image search of the image. With the help of reverse image search, we found a 1 minute 53 second YouTube video of News Alert Kannada 24×7.

News Alert Kannada (YouTube)

The video is of PM Modi’s address during an election rally at Mulki in Karnataka on Wednesday, May 3. In the beginning of the video shared by News Alert Kannada, party members on the stage are shown facilitating the PM by making him wear the Yakshagana ornament. Yakshagana art is a form of dance drama that is performed in the southern part of India.

While facilitating the PM on the stage, the party members make him wear Yakshagana headgear, it is also known as pagada. Following this, the woman in the video greets him by handing him a shawl. While the woman is greeting the PM with her shawl, a man carrying a Lord Ganesha idol approaches to greet him with the idol. PM Modi urges the man to wait since there are a few people surrounding him who are greeting him. Then, at 59 seconds, a man carrying the idol enters the frame, welcomes the PM with the idol, and poses with him.

Screengrab from the video

Hence, the video shared by the Twitter user Rofl Gandhi is cropped and misleading. The PM asked the man carrying the idol to wait because there were already 2-3 people encircling him to greet him with the pagada and shawl. And when these people stepped aside, PM Modi posed with that man accepting the Lord Ganesha idol.
