Congress leader Rahul Gandhi recently travelled to the United States, a truck driver, drove him from Washington, DC, to New York.
Gandhi recalled his prior truck journeys in India, from Murthal to Ambala, Ambala to Chandigarh, and Delhi to Chandigarh, while the two talked about the disparities in the working circumstances of Indian and American truck drivers throughout their 190-kilometer excursion.
Talking about his event, the Congress supporter satirical handle going by the handle name @/niiravmodi, shared the video and wrote that an Indian truck driver offered Rahul Gandhi a ride from Washington DV to New York and he accepted it. The user further added that the truck driver was a Bharatiya Janata Party supporter but he left India because the party is thriving on communal politics and the unemployment is rising since it came into power.
Another Congress supporter @/shaandelhite sharing the video of Rahul Gandhi and the truck wrote, “The two most favourite moments from Rahul Gandhi’s journey with Truck drivers as he travelled from Delhi to Shimla and Washington to New York. Just notice how comfortably the driver kept his hand on RG’s shoulder. They both looked like college friends.”
Further, he added, “Rahul Gandhi got sad & emotional when the Indian truck driver said that he doesn’t get extra even during Diwali.”
In our fact check, we came across the Facebook of the truck driver who drove Rahul Gandhi from Washington to New Jersey.
His Facebook profile contradicts what the whole Congress party and supporters are trying to portray which is that Rahul Gandhi was given a ride by an arbitrary truck driver who had formerly supported the BJP but had left India because the party had failed to generate jobs.
According to the Facebook profile of the truck driver, his name is Taljinder Singh Vicky Gill. His post from 2016 says that Taljinder was the vice president of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) from the Dakha village in Punjab. The NSUI is student wing of the Indian National Congress, was established on 9 April 1971.
Besides, as per another post from July 20, 2019, he became the Indian Overseas Congress’s (IOC) Youth President in America. IOC promotes the idea of Congress in USA and other foreign countries.
Not only that, over the years, his Facebook account has been updated with photos of him meeting out with different members of Congress and attending their events. Here is one picture of him with Gurjeet Singh Aujla, the Congress MP from Punjab.
Moreover, Taljinder even took part in the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi. Here is the picture of him attending the yatra.
Furthermore, we also came across another profile of Taljinder. In one of his post from 2013, he is appealing everyone to vote for the respective candidates of Indian National Congress contesting elections for Panchayat Samitis and Zila Parishad seats.
In another post from 2015, he is even spotted with Rahul Gandhi. Additionally, there are many other postsoif him attending rallies and Congress events.
From all of this points it becomes evident from the truck driver’s prior Facebook posts that he has never supported the BJP. He first served as the NSUI president in Dakha, and subsequently he was the president of the Youth Congress in America. The conversation between him and Rahul Gandhi was scripted and staged.
Hence, he wasn’t just some random Indian man working as a truck driver in America who offered to take Rahul Gandhi to New Jersey. He has been affiliated with the Congress for a long time.
