During our thorough investigation into the viral video, we decided to conduct a reverse video search in order to ascertain its authenticity. In a fascinating turn of events, our search led us to an YouTube video on the official channel of India Today, which was uploaded on July 14, 2022. Surprisingly, the visuals presented in this video bore a striking resemblance to the viral footage. However, the narrative presented in the YouTube video diverged significantly from the initial claims associated with the viral video.

According to India Today, the incident unfolded with a family from Jat village in Maharashtra’s Sangli district, who were visiting Oman to celebrate Eid after living in Dubai. Tragically, 42-year-old Shashikant Mahamane and his six-year-old son, Shreyas, were reported missing in the Gulf of Oman, a northwest arm of the Arabian Sea. The search and rescue teams managed to recover the bodies of Shashikant and Shreyas, yet Shruti, the nine-year-old daughter, remains unaccounted for.

After this, we stumbled upon yet another intriguing video on the official YouTube channel of Times Now, which was uploaded on July 14, 2022. Once again, the visuals displayed in this video mirrored those of the viral footage we had been examining. According to the Times Now video also, this tragic incident is from Oman beach where 3 People From India were swept away by powerful currents.

Taking a cue from the above Youtube videos, we then did a keyword research with the words, “people swept away by huge waves on Oman beach.” During this, we came across a significant report published by The Tribune India on July 14, 2022. The visuals presented within the report aligned perfectly with the viral video. According to this report also, this devastating incident occurred on Mughsail beach, when three members of a family from Maharashtra’s Sangli district were swept away off the coast of Salah al-Mughsail in Oman.
