Many political leaders have recently engaged in the trend of peddling misinformation online. One such leader is IP Singh of the Samajwadi Party. It has been observed that IP Singh has shared many manipulated media and videos without verifying their authenticity. By doing so, he has contributed to the growing issue of political disinformation, where false or misleading information is deliberately spread to influence public opinion or achieve political goals. This behavior not only misleads the public but also undermines trust in the political process. In this article, we are presenting details of incidents of unbridled sharing of fake news by IP Singh.

1. PM Modi didn’t promise 24 hours free electricity in the country

IP Singh shared a video of PM Modi and claimed that Modi had promised free electricity in his third term. Posting the video on Twitter, he wrote, “Electricity bill is zero across the country from today. And 24 hours electricity in the country from today.”

Fact Check: Our investigation found that PM Modi did not make any promise of providing 24 hours free electricity across the country. The viral video is edited. In the original video, PM Modi was talking about free electricity under the ‘Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme’.

2. Uma Bharti appealed to vote against BJP?

IP Singh shared a video of BJP leader Uma Bharti on Twitter and wrote, “Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Ms. Uma Bharti has appealed not to vote for BJP and asked to teach BJP a tough lesson.”

Fact Check: The video is edited. In the original video, Uma Bharti was raising her voice against the liquor policy.

3. Did Nitin Gadkari raise questions on PM Modi?

IP Singh sharing a video wrote, “BJP President Shri Nitin Gadkari is raising many questions, PM Modi should listen to him today.” IP Singh claimed that Nitin Gadkari was raising questions on PM Modi. “

Fact Check: The video of Nitin Gadkari is from the year 2011, in which he was criticizing the Congress government led by then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He was condemning the arrest of social activist Anna Hazare, who was protesting demanding a strong democracy. This makes it clear that Gadkari was criticizing the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, not the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

4. The claim of Jay Shah posing for a photo with the Pakistani Army Chief’s son is false

IP Singh shared a photo of Jai Shah and wrote, ‘This special photo has become a topic of discussion in the country during the elections. Home Minister Amit Shah’s son Jai Shah, who spewed fire against Pakistan during the elections, and Pakistani Army Chief Qamar Javid Bajwa’s son are getting a photoshoot done together in Dubai, and here Amit Shah is playing the Hindu-Muslim game. Modi and Amit Shah are fooling the public.”

Fact Check: The viral photo with Jai Shah is Urvashi Rautela’s brother Yash Rautela. The claim that Jai Shah was photographed with Pakistani Army Chief Qamar Javid Bajwa’s son is misleading.

5. Did the leader of BJP ally Om Prakash Rajbhar’s party abuse Thakurs? 

IP Singh shared a video and claimed that leaders of Om Prakash Rajbhar’s party, an ally of BJP, were using objectionable language against Thakurs.

Fact Check: The viral video is about 4 years old and the police had taken action in this case. Also, the accused person was not a member of any party.

6. CM Yogi talked about kicking the Brahmin community?

IP Singh posted a 25-second video of CM Yogi and wrote, “The biggest family of the Brahmin community is speaking in a language of kicking the family of late Pandit Harishankar Tiwari ji. This insult is not only of that family, but of the entire community. They are insulting the Brahmin community due to their old enmity. The Brahmin community in UP will take revenge for this insult, whether it is Siddharthnagar, Gorakhpur or Deoria, the community will make them bite the dust.”

Fact Check: CM Yogi did not make any derogatory remark against the Brahmin community. In fact, his statement was for the mafia.

7. Video of IPS officer slapping woman is not from UP

IP Singh shared a video and wrote, “An IPS officer’s intimidation of his uniform on a woman. Modi-Yogi government talks falsely about Nari Vandan, women empowerment. If by mistake someone goes to their doorstep to seek justice, then UP police welcomes him with 50-100 abuses, 5-10 slaps and 10-20 sticks as a reward. Yogi government does not take any action against all IPS and PPS officers like Ashish Tiwari.”

Fact Check: This video of an IPS officer slapping a woman is about 6 years old. Also, this incident is not from UP but from Punjab, which is being shared with a misleading claim.

8. The viral video is not of the funeral procession of notorious criminal Mukhtar Ansari

Sharing a video of a crowd, IP Singh wrote, “That was our death, that was our death, it was the funeral of Mian… A sea of ​​people eager to have the last glimpse of their politician with moist eyes, Hindustan is crying, bidding him an emotional farewell. Humble tribute to that great personality, salutations to him. As long as the sun and the moon exist, Mukhtar your name will remain. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat.”

Fact Check: Our investigation revealed that the viral video is not of the funeral procession of notorious criminal Mukhtar Ansari. This video is of the funeral procession of Saqlain Mian in Bareilly.

9. The claim that bulldozers will be used to demolish the houses of backward class people after the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya is misleading

IP Singh shared a video of houses getting bulldozed and wrote, “In Bhadohi, UP, the houses of backward class people were demolished using bulldozers. This is the period of Amritkaal in Ramrajya for the backward classes.”

Fact Check: IP Singh’s allegation turned out to be baseless. More than 30 people of the village had filled up the government pond and built their houses. After this, the government property was vacated on the orders of the High Court.

10. The video of beating of BJP leader in Madhya Pradesh is old

iIP Singh shared a video of BJP leader getting beaten and wrote, “In MP, the public is chasing and beating up BJP leaders in the area, their security personnel risked their lives and ran away with the BJP leader. People were attacking vehicles with stones and sticks. BJP has left the country.”

Fact Check: The video shared by the Samajwadi Party leader is two years old and is not from the MP elections but from the West Bengal Assembly elections.

11. Actress Deepika Padukone got emotional about the protest against the film ‘Pathan’ ?

IP Singh sharing a video of actress Deepika Padukone wrote, “Deepika Padukone is the daughter of Shri Prakash Padukone, wife of film star Shri Ranveer. What kind of environment has the BJP and its government created in the country regarding films. These tears in the eyes… This film will get fame all over the world and will do a business of more than Rs 500 crore. IP Singh claimed that Deepika is saddened by the opposition to the film Pathan starring her.”

Fact Check: In the video Deepika Padukone is talking about her battle with depression in 2014 and it has nothing to do with the protest against the film Pathan.

12. Khan Sir’s viral video on India and China is misleading

Sharing Khan Sir’s video on X, IP Singh wrote, “The Modi government has ruined India’s foreign policy. Today, neighboring countries are no longer friends of India. A teacher has underlined in simple language. China has become a cause of worry for us.”

Fact Check: Our analysis reveals that the relationship between India and China is not good. Both countries are in competition with each other and adopt encirclement strategies. Therefore, to say that China is creating a trap to shut down India and India is not doing anything is an immature claim.

13. The viral video of potholes on the road is not from Lucknow but from China

IP Singh posted a video and wrote, “The real picture is of 100 smart city capital Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, where the economy is going to become one trillion dollar on paper. You can see the glitz and glamour of publicity in the background.”

Fact Check: Our investigation found that the viral video is not from Lucknow but from China. It has been dubbed in Hindi with the intention of spreading propaganda.

14. The photo of the uncovered school child is not from India but from Cambodia

IP Singh shared a picture on social media in which a group of school students are studying. In the picture, one student is wearing torn clothes and due to this his body is not even covered. Singh wrote in the caption of the picture, “Prime Minister, what kind of India are you building where children do not even have clothes to cover their bodies.”

Fact Check: The picture is not of a poor student from India but of a student from Cambodia.

15. The average income of a person in India is Rs 22 per day?

IP Singh claimed that the average income of a person in India is Rs. 22 per day, which means according to him that the average person earns Rs. 22 × 365 = Rs. 8030 in a year.

Fact check: IP Singh’s claim of an average daily income of Rs 22 and 82 crore people surviving on 5 kg of government ration is misleading. With an annual per capita income of around Rs 98,372, the daily income is around Rs 270.

16. Arun Govil talked about changing the Constitution?

IP Singh shared Arun Govil’s video and wrote, “400 are needed to change the Constitution. This means reservation will end. Now Arun Govil has also said it. This means Modi ji will do this. That is, after June 4, Baba Saheb’s Constitution will end.”

Fact Check: Arun Govil’s remark was misrepresented to create a misleading impression that the BJP will destroy the existing Constitution and create a new one. He clearly said that necessary changes will be made in the Constitution if needed.

17. Video of burning photo of Chandrababu Naidu in Andhra Pradesh goes viral with misleading information

IP Singh shared a video of a burning poster of Chandrababu Naidu and wrote, “As soon as Shri Chandrababu Naidu gave his letter of support to Modi, massive protests started in Andhra Pradesh. The public has given a mandate against Modi ji. The road ahead is very difficult for Modi BJP.”

Fact Check: The video is about four months old when TDP workers, angry with ticket distribution, protested against Chandrababu Naidu.

18. Did BJP win 86 seats by a margin of 2000 votes?

IP Singh shared an infographic image and claimed that BJP won 7 seats in the Lok Sabha elections by a margin of 200 votes, 23 seats by a margin of 500 votes, 49 seats by a margin of 1000 votes and 86 seats by a margin of 2000 votes. With this claim, he questioned the fairness of the election process.

Fact Check: Our investigation found that BJP won only three of the 240 seats by a margin of less than 2000 votes. These seats are: Odisha, Jajpur – margin of 1587 votes; Rajasthan, Jaipur Rural – margin of 1616 votes; and Chhattisgarh, Kanker – margin of 1884 votes.

19. Mohan Bhagwat held Modi government responsible for Manipur violence?

IP Singh shared an alleged comment by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in which he blamed the Modi government for the violence in Manipur and wrote, “RSS chief was in deep sleep till now, he has opened his mouth after the election results and formation of NDA government. He is the last king of RSS. NSG has been deployed for his service for the first time. RSS is opening offices in big palaces. RSS people are traveling in private planes, now they do not need Gurudakshina. Sangh Parivar is enjoying power.”

Fact Check: The remark made by Mohan Bhagwat turned out to be distorted. He did not make any comment on the Modi government blaming it for the violence in Manipur.

20. The video of the road collapse is not from Ayodhya but from Brazil

IP Singh shared a video in which a woman was walking and suddenly the road collapsed causing her to fall into a pit and claimed that the video was from Gujarat.

Fact Check: Investigation revealed that this video is from Brazil, not Gujarat.

21. The video of Baba being beaten is 6 years old

IP Singh shared a video two women beating a Baba and wrote, “Now saints and mahatmas are not found in saffron clothes.”

Fact Check: Investigation revealed that this video of women beating up Baba is about 6 years old.

22. Raju, the accused in the Ayodhya gangrape case, is not a Hindu but a Muslim

Regarding a rape case of a minor girl in Ayodhya, IP Singh claimed on X that the accused Raju was a Hindu.

Fact Check: Investigation revealed that Raju, the accused of raping a minor girl in Ayodhya, was a Muslim. The full name of the accused is Raju Khan. Misleading news is being spread by calling him a Hindu.

23. The church in Mirzapur was built on forest department land

IP Singh shared a video of church getting bulldozed and wrote, “Bulldozer is being run on the church in Mirzapur, Yogi government has declared it illegal construction.”

Fact Check: Investigation revealed that a church was built by illegally occupying the forest department’s land in Jungle Mohalla of Ahraura police station area of ​​Mirzapur. On receiving the complaint, the accused were issued a notice by the Sub-District Magistrate Court and ordered to present their side, but both of them did not appear in the court.

24. The claim that BJP leaders cut a cake to welcome the IIT-BHU gangrape accused after they got bail is false

IP Singh claimed that the gang rape accused from IIT-BHU were welcomed by the BJP with a cake-cutting celebration.

Fact Check:  The dance programme was not associated with the BJP. It was organized by the Ma Manasa & Behula Lakshminder Mela committee, which has a 15-year tradition of featuring various stage performances. The stage displayed banners and posters to show solidarity with the rape incident, after which regular performances were carried out.

25. The claim of rape and murder of two girls in Farrukhabad is false

IP Singh  wrote, “A heart-wrenching incident took place in Farrukhabad, UP. Two women were brutally murdered and their bodies were hung from a single noose. The bodies of both were hung from the noose using the same dupatta. Both the women were murdered and their bodies were hung from the noose. There is a suspicion of gang rape with them. There is a panic after finding the bodies of both the women in a mango orchard. Both had gone together to attend the Janmashtami fair. When the women did not return home at night, the family started searching for them and both their bodies were found in the morning.”

Fact Check: Investigation revealed that both the girls committed suicide due to pressure to maintain their love relationship. The claim of rape and murder of the girls is false.

26: RSS didn’t say that caste census is a threat to the unity and integrity of the society

IP Singh claimed that the RSS has termed the caste census as a threat to the unity and integrity of the society.

Fact Check: RSS leader Sunil Ambekar said that caste census is an important issue for the unity and integrity of the country, hence it needs to be taken seriously, politics cannot be done. Caste data should be used for the welfare of different castes.

27. The video of the meeting between Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav is two years old

IP Singh shared a video of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar visit to Lalu Yadav residence and wrote, “When Hon’ble Lalu Prasad Yadav ji returned from Singapore after treatment, on humanitarian grounds Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar reached Shri Lalu Yadav’s residence to inquire about his well-being. Whereas the media will make a fuss out of this meeting. These are socialist people but this sanskar is not there at all in BJP people.”

Fact Check: The video of the meeting between Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav is two years old. It is being shared misleadingly by claiming it to be recent.

28: Justice Chitambaresh’s statement on reservation is 5 years old

IP Singh shared a newspaper cutting which said that Justice Chitambaresh has asked Brahmins to oppose reservation. IP Singh wrote, “You are speaking the language of RSS and BJP. Yesterday the Sangh opposed the caste census. A meeting of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is going on in Kerala, so the Sanghis had to be appeased.”

Fact Check: The newspaper cutting is 5 years old. Justice Chitambaresh had given this statement at a Brahmin Sabha event in Kerala. It has nothing to do with the current RSS meeting.

29. The video of storm is my Libya

IP Singh shared a video of storm and claimed it’s from China.

Fact Check: The viral video is from Benghazi city of Libya. This video is from September 2023, when a cyclone named Daniel hit Libya.

30. Taking bribe for the right work is not a crime? 9 year old news viral with misleading claim

 
IP Singh sharded a newspaper cutting and wrote, “Modi government can set any standard on corruption so that BJP leaders can be saved after losing power.”

Fact Check: The viral newspaper cutting is 9 years old. ‘Taking bribe for the right work is not a crime’ This was just a proposal of the Law Commission. It was not implemented, rather in the year 2018, the Central Government made the Anti-Corruption Law stricter.

31. The claim of helicopter theft in Meerut is false

IP Singh  claimed helicopters are being stolen under Yogi government.

Fact Check: The case of helicopter robbery in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh is fake. There was no incident of helicopter robbery. The helicopter was brought to Meerut airstrip for repair. But since the repair could not be done, it was taken back with permission. There is a dispute going on between the owner of the helicopter and the pilot regarding the transaction of money. After which the pilot had fabricated the story of fake robbery due to the dispute over the transaction of money.

32. The total cost of demolition and reconstruction of Hatkeshwar Bridge is Rs 52 crore

IP Singh claimed that the Hatkeshwar Bridge was built in Ahmedabad, Gujarat at a cost of Rs 42 crore but due to poor construction material, it will now be demolished for Rs 52 crore.

Fact Check: The total cost of demolition and reconstruction of Hatkeshwar Bridge is Rs 52 crore. Also, the entire cost of new construction will be recovered from the old contractor.

33. Video showing a gathering of youth seeking jobs is approximately three years old

IP Singh shared a video of a large crowd of youth gathered for jobs in Gujarat, stating, “This crowd of unemployed people is crawling forward in line for 600 jobs in Banaskantha, Gujarat. This is the real Gujarat model which the Prime Minister has given to the youth of the country.”

Fact Check: This video dates back to November 2021, when youth had gathered in Banaskantha, Gujarat for the recruitment of 600 positions in the Gram Raksha Dal.

34. Video of water leaking from cracks on road is not from India

IP Singh shared a video showing water seeping out from from a fissure and claimed that the video is from India. He wrote, “Look carefully- Modi ji has got new washing systems installed on the roads. He keeps watching the construction work going on in the country through drones.”

Fact Check: The video is from Guatemala, America. On September 12, a vent formed on the CA-9 highway due to heavy rain causing seeping through drainage system.
