During our investigation, we first did a keyword research with the relevant keywords and came across a report by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) of India, published on July 24, 2023. According to this report, Delhi’s per capita income in 2020-21 was Rs. 3,31,112, and it increased to Rs. 3,89,529 in 2021-22. On the other hand, Goa had a per capita income of Rs. 4,31,351 in 2020-21, which then rose to Rs. 4,72,070 in 2021-22. Now, what caught our attention is the political twist in this financial tale. Goa has been under the rule of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since 2012.
Continuing our investigation, we stumbled upon another eye-opening report by Statista, released on December 11, 2023. This report provided fresh insights into the per capita income of Delhi and Goa during the financial year 2023. According to this report, Delhi’s per capita income in 2023 reached Rs. 444,768. However, In the same year, the BJP-governed state of Goa again surpassed the capital city as its per capita income stood at Rs. 472,020 in 2023.
Hence, all these points prove that the claim stating the Per Capita Income of Delhi is three times higher than that of all BJP states is misleading. The Per Capita Income of Goa, a BJP-governing state, has been higher than that of Delhi for many years now.
