A video of famous football player Cristiano Ronaldo has gone viral, in which it is being claimed that he has made a significant statement in support of Palestine. In the video, Ronaldo can be heard saying, “I love Palestine. Hey. I am Cristiano Ronaldo speaking. Can’t you see what’s happening? The people of Palestine are suffering beyond imagination. The Israeli forces are bombing them mercilessly. Gaza is turning into rubble. Children are crying, parents are lying lifeless, and the world remains silent. The air in Gaza smells of blood and sorrow. I have always stood with the people of Palestine.”
Sharing the video, the handle Zubair wrote, “The world’s greatest footballer Ronaldo said something big about Palestine.” (Archived link)

Fact check
In our fact-check, we first searched for related keywords and tried to verify whether Ronaldo has made any public statement regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict. However, we did not find any news report, interview, or social media post by Ronaldo where such a statement has been made.
Next, we took keyframes from the viral video and conducted a reverse image search. We found that the same keyframe appears in an interview of Ronaldo on Sky Sports Premier League. This is a 21-minute-long interview from January 2022. We watched the full interview and found that Ronaldo did not mention the Israel-Palestine conflict at any point. In fact, he spoke only about his then football club, Manchester United.
Further, it raised doubt that Ronaldo’s video might have been taken from this interview and digitally altered using AI. So, we uploaded a 20-second clip of the viral video to Hive Moderation, and it confirmed that the video is AI-generated and contains deepfake content.
Later, we found out that the video of the girl shown in the viral clip, which is being claimed to be from Gaza, is actually from Turkey. This video was originally shared by a TikTok user, and according to the caption, the girl in the video is named Eylul.

The video showing Cristiano Ronaldo speaking about the Israel-Palestine conflict is AI-generated. A clip from his interview with Sky Sports was taken and digitally altered. As of April 2025, Ronaldo has not made any official public statement in support of Palestine.
