A.K. Stalin an account on X (formerly known as Twitter) has shared a dubious video (archived link) that raises question about its authenticity. The video features Aaj Tak news prominent anchor, Chitra Tripathi, allegedly making critical comments about the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The audio of the video claims that, Chitra in her show remarked about the PM by saying, “All the surveys being conducted in the country at present are hurting PM Modi like arrows. He doesn’t have enough time left to carry his bag (jhola) and walk away. I.N.D.I.A has given sleepless nights to BJP and RSS. Meanwhile, News 24 polled the public regarding the 2024 elections and conducted a survey in which it was asked who looks stronger in the alliance of NDA and the opposition. More than 80% people loudly said opposition alliance. NDA was limited to only 14% votes.”
In the purported video, Chitra attributes certain issues like inflation, unemployment, farmer and wrestler protests with PM Modi while allegedly making more critical remarks about him.
A.K. Stalin sharing the video wrote, “How is this truth coming out? It seems that BJP has stopped their payment due to fear of defeat. Is this why the truth is coming out of your mouth? Is it true that NDA is losing?”
Samajwadi Prahari (archived link) wrote, “How is this truth coming out? It seems that BJP has stopped their payment due to fear of defeat. Is this why the truth is coming out of your mouth? Is it true that NDA is losing?”
The viral video was also shared by account Narendra Rajgopalak (archived link), Rajni (archived link),and yadavrinku666 (archived link).

The video raises questions about its authenticity as we see a discrepancy between the audio and the lip sync, indicating that the audio has been added to create the impression that Chitra is making those critical comments against the PM.
To know the whole truth behind the video, we dug into the official YouTube channel of Aaj Tak and found the original video in which Chitra is seen wearing the same outfit as in the alleged video shared on X.
The title of the video reads, “Dangal: Chitra Tripathi से उलझ गए Manojit Mandal.” At the beginning of the video, Chitra questions Mandal about the incident of violence in West Bengal against a woman, which was allegedly similar to the incident in Manipur where a woman was paraded naked, he starts yelling and verbally insulting Chitra. Pausing Mandal’s audio, she responds by saying that “Such serious issues should definitely be discussed, but she is not sitting there to tolerate insults and disrespects.”
When Chitra is responding to Mandal by pausing his audio, she can be seen making the same hand gestures that she is making in the viral video, making it clear that a different audio has been added to the viral video. Also, we watched the entire video, but nowhere in the video was she heard making those viral critical remarks against the PM.
In the next step, we decided to find out where the viral audio criticizing PM Modi was taken from. In our research, we found that the audio was taken from a video uploaded on the official YouTube channel of the Indian National Congress eight months ago.
The title of the video is, “सर्वे में जीता INDIA, मच गई NDA में खलबली | देश की जनता ने INDIA को जिताया. NDA को नकारा.” In the beginning of the video Congress anchor talks about News 24 2024 election survey and is making the exact same viral comment about PM Modi.
She says, “All the surveys being conducted in the country at present are hurting PM Modi like arrows.
Apart from this, we also found Chitra Tripathi’s tweet where she refuted the claim and called the viral video fake.
In conclusion, the viral video is edited and fake, in which the audio making critical remarks against PM Modi is taken from the video of INC channel.
