The video is being shared with the claim that it is from Charbagh Railway Station, Lucknow, and that the policeman was drunk and had hit a child with a stick. The child’s parents allegedly confronted the officer in anger, leading to a verbal spat. During the altercation, the policeman allegedly pushed the woman, prompting her to strike him with slippers. Social media users are now demanding action against the policeman.

We began our fact-checking process by performing a reverse image search of the video. Upon searching, we found a Dainik Jagran report published on March 19, 2022. The report stated that a dispute over luggage at Charbagh Railway Station escalated into a physical altercation between a policeman and a passenger. The situation quickly turned violent, with the uniformed officer assaulting both the male and female passengers. In retaliation, the woman removed her slipper and struck the policeman. No formal complaint was filed by either party with the GRP (Government Railway Police). Following the incident, SP Railway Saumitra Yadav wrote to the Lucknow Police Commissioner, recommending departmental action and suspension of the officer for his misconduct.
The Dainik Jagran report further stated that bystanders recorded the incident on their phones, and the video later went viral on social media. Amid the chaos, a female RPF constable arrived at the scene but was unable to stop the brawl. She alerted the GRP police station, prompting officers to intervene and escort both parties to the station. However, neither side filed a formal complaint and was eventually allowed to leave. Following the incident, SP Railway Saumitra Yadav wrote to the Lucknow Commissioner, recommending departmental action against the constable for his misconduct in a public place.
We also found reports from Aaj Tak, ETV Bharat, and India.com that corroborated the Dainik Jagran report, confirming that the video is from March 2022. The reports clarified that the policeman did not hit the child with a stick but had asked the woman to remove her luggage from his path, which led to the altercation. Although no charges were filed by either party (the woman or the policeman), the constable was reprimanded for his unruly behavior in public.
