Fact Check

We began our fact-checking process by performing a reverse image search on the viral video. Our search led us to an India Today interview recorded on January 29, 2025, available on its official website.

At 19 minutes and 20 seconds into the interview, journalist Rahul Kanwal is seen interviewing BJP leader Parvesh Verma. During the conversation, Kanwal asks a woman present at the scene, “Are you getting water?” to which she responds, “Yes.” He then asks, “Are you getting electricity?” She replies, “Yes, 200 units.” She further mentions that her electricity bill is around ₹500-₹600 per month.

Following this, Rahul Kanwal tells Parvesh Verma that the situation in Delhi does not appear as dire as he claims. Kanwal then rephrases his question, asking the woman, “Do you get clean drinking water?” She responds, “Yes, we have an RO system installed at home, which provides clean water. Tap water, however, is dirty.”

Hence, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) edited the video to mislead people into believing that residents were claiming they receive clean water. In reality, the woman clarified that tap water is dirty, and they rely on an RO system for clean drinking water.
