Viral Video of Explosion Claiming to Be from Leepa Valley Is False

A video of an explosion is going viral on social media. The video is being attributed to the recent ongoing tension at the LoC border with the claim that massive explosions have been reported at the military ammunition depot in India’s Leepa Valley after being targeted by Pakistani forces.

Fact Check

In our research, we took a keyframe from the viral video and performed a reverse image search. Through the reverse search, we found a post by The Daily Milap on X, dated March 20, 2022. After translating the post, we found out that the video is from Pakistan. The caption translates to, ‘Multiple explosions at a military base in northern Pakistan. Initial indications are that it is an ammunition storage area. A large fire is burning. The cause is still unconfirmed.’

Further, we conducted a keyword search related to this and found a Times Now report dated March 20, 2022. According to the report, the video shows a massive explosion at an ammunition storage facility that occurred in Sialkot, Pakistan, near the cantonment area in Punjab province.

In conclusion, the explosion video is from Sialkot, Pakistan, and dates back to March 20, 2022. The massive explosion took place at an ammunition storage facility. The video is unrelated to the recent tensions at the LoC border.
