Viral video of attack on tribal woman by family falsely linked to hindus to give minority twist

A video is viral on social media these days in which several men are beating and thrashing a tribal woman very badly. However, a Twitter handle named India Muslim shared the viral video and wrote, “a Dalit girl is brutally beaten by a group of Hindu extremists organization. India is the only country in the world in which the extremist Hindu wing commits all methods of gross violation of human rights, especially against Muslims and Dalits”, he added.

Youth Congress worker Vaibhav Upadhyay also shared the viral video and wrote, “till how long these Hindu goons will keep spoiling the environment of our country @myogiadityanath? Till when, do Dalits have to suffer this torture? The killing of constitutional rights is at its peak in your rule. India is asking with moist eyes till when”, he added.

Another Twitter user named John George and Shehnaz shared the viral video and wrote, “A Dalit girl had a bath in the river of UP. The Hindutva goondas torture the girl for spoiling the sanctity of the river”, he added.

Apart from this another Twitter user Sam Khan shared the same viral video and wrote, “Afghanistan should never be like these people”.

Moreover, a Facebook Page named Kone kone ki khabar also shared the viral video and claim that the woman who used to beat the kid mercilessly was caught by the public.

However, since the claims of various social media users who shared the viral video were not matching with each other, we decided to Fact Check the viral video.

Fact Check

Starting the investigation, we first did a Google reverse search of the viral video. During this, we came across a tweet by Syed Jafar from July 4, 2021. In this tweet, he shared the same viral video and wrote, “the cruel face has come to the fore in Dhar district. Two young women were made to roam around the village by their family members beating them with sticks and rods. The only fault of both was that they used to talk to their maternal uncle’s boys on mobile”, he added.

Taking a hint from the above tweet we did a keyword search “woman beaten by family in Dhar district”. During this, we found a news report published by India Today on July 4, 2021. According to this news report, two tribal sisters were brutally beaten by their family members for talking to their maternal uncle’s sons on the phone. The whole incident took place on June 22, 2021, in Peepalwa village as per Tanda Police station in-charge Vijay Vaskale. Moreover, the Police also registered a case and arrested seven people who were involved in this incident.

Similarly, we found another report published by NDTV on the same date which is July 4, 2021. This report also narrates the same developments. According to this report also, The tribal women, who are cousins, were tortured in full public view by their family members because they were apparently talking to their maternal cousins.

Besides, the video published in both the above reports is the same that is being viral with different claims currently.

Apart from this, BJP Mahila Morcha had also posted on Twitter regarding this incident on July 4, 2021. In their tweet, they are thanking the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for arresting the culprits and taking immediate action against them.

Along with this, we also found the same viral video on Youtube with the title “Dhar district, MP: 2 girls brutally beaten by family members” on the Oneindia News Youtube channel.

So, all these points prove that the whole incident was a family matter. Moreover, the girl was brutally beaten by the members of her own family and not by Hindu extremists.
