A video is going viral on social media showing a group of men dressed in saffron robes, who appear to be Hindu pandits, sitting together and eating food. This video is being circulated on social media with the claim that these ‘dharam ke thekedar’ (self-proclaimed protectors of dharma) are eating non-veg food, thereby mocking religious values.
Mahaveer Jain shared this video on the X platform claiming that, “These are some so-called ‘guardians of religion’ who claim to be saints. There’s a lot I want to write about them, but if I do, it might hurt the sentiments of those who truly believe in religion and God. These are the same people who sit on news channels and preach about religion. These days in Uttar Pradesh, they go around shops asking people’s names and beating them up. This is their reality, openly eating meat, and yet they lecture us about dharma. Beware of such hypocritical priests.”

Dinesh Bhardwaj, Sher Singh Meena, and Dharmik Beggar IND also shared the video with a similar claim.

Fact Check
We performed a reverse image search on keyframes from the viral video and found the original video posted by Harismaran Krishna Das on his Facebook account dated June 14, 2025.
From his Facebook profile, we found that Harismaran Krishna Das resides in Comilla, Bangladesh and is affiliated with ISKCON Bangladesh.

We contacted him, as he is the person seen in the viral video. In his detailed response to Only Fact, he confirmed that the video was originally recorded in April 2024 at the house of a local devotee who had invited them for lunch, and the meal shown in the video is vegetarian. He also mentioned that he recently shared the video on his social media accounts and also provided the image metadata along with several key details.

Details:
1- The video was recorded over a year ago, not recently. The location is Comilla in Bangladesh.
2- It was filmed at the residence of a local devotee who had invited them for lunch. Everyone seen in the video is associated with ISKCON Bangladesh (International Society for Krishna Consciousness), which strictly follows a vegetarian diet as per the Vaishnav tradition.
3- He confirmed that no non-vegetarian food was served or consumed.
Harismaran Krishna Das also clarified that the food items seen in the video are: Muri (puffed rice) Alu Chop (potato fritters) Kheera (cucumber) Burinda (a local sweet dish). Lastly, Harismaran Krishna Das said that the video was twisted to spread false propaganda and disrespect a community that upholds dharmic values and vegetarianism as a core tenet.
Conclusion: The viral claim that Hindu pandits are eating non-veg food is completely baseless and misleading. The men seen in the video are ISKCON devotees from Bangladesh eating a pure vegetarian meal during a community visit. The video is being circulated with malicious intent to defame religious figures and mislead people.
