Viral Photos of “Gaza Girl” in Rubble Are Actually from Syria and Lebanon

The escalating conflict in the Middle East has taken a dangerous turn, with Israel intensifying its campaign by targeting and dismantling Hamas, Hezbollah, and now extending strikes into Iranian airspace to eliminate key military installations. As Islamist forces face setbacks, some are shifting focus to a narrative of victimhood, sharing manipulated videos portraying injured children and women to evoke sympathy. On the same note, a recent viral video on social media, claims that little Palestinian girl was injured in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza.

Serial fake news peddler Sadaf Afreen claimed, ‘Alhamdulillah. A little innocent Palestinian girl who was buried under the rubble has been rescued safely! Terrorist Israel is targeting only children!’

Zishan asserted, ‘A picture from Gaza went viral in which a small innocent girl was trapped in the rubble due to the terrorist Israeli attack. Later when people saw the girl, they resuscitated her and got her treated. Alhamdulillah, the girl is safe as of now.‘

Nadeem Ahmed wrote, ‘A Palestinian child buried under rubble waits for help. What a heartbreaking scene, but the international community is silent on this.‘

Syeda Aiman Zahra wrote, ‘She’s fine Alhamdulillah.’

Kavish Aziz said, ‘What was the fault of this child…’

Fact check

We began our fact-checking process by performing a reverse image search on a video where a baby appears to be peeking from beneath what looks like rubble. After an extensive search, we located the original video on TikTok, shared on October 27, with a caption in Arabic that translates to: “Thank God, the girl is fine, she’s playing and coming out of the house drain. #This is not in Gaza, it’s in Syria. Please, no one share videos claiming she’s under attack; there’s nothing wrong with her. Thank God.”

This confirms that the viral video of the baby girl peeking is actually from Syria and is unrelated to any wartime destruction. In reality, it shows a Syrian girl playing inside her home and emerging from a drain.

Additionally, we conducted a reverse image search on another image shared by Islamist groups, which led us to a news report from Aljadeed TV dated October 25, 2025. The report stated: ‘This afternoon, the Israeli enemy committed another massacre, adding to its series of attacks in the town of Al-Khader, east of Baalbek, by targeting a residential neighborhood near the town’s Husseiniya. This resulted in seven martyrs and 19 wounded, who were taken to Dar Al-Amal University Hospital in Douris for treatment, as well as the destruction of a residential neighborhood, with a child surviving the massacre.’

In conclusion, the second image of a child shared by Islamist groups is from Lebanon, a victim of the broader conflict initiated by Hamas. Meanwhile, the first video shows a different girl from Syria playing in her house, completely unrelated to the ongoing war.
