Claim of Acid Attack on Delhi University Student Found to Be Fabricated
A claim is going viral on social media that a 20-year-old Delhi University student was attacked by her stalkers with acid near Lakshmibai College in Ashok Vihar on October 26, 2025. A video of the alleged victim is also going viral where she is claiming that Jitendra, Ishaan, and Armaan, threw acid on her while she was on her way to college, and also alleged that Jitendra had been stalking her for some time. With this, concerns are being raised over women’s safety under the BJP government at the Centre and in Delhi.
Sharing the claim, INC Congress wrote, “An acid attack has been carried out on a student of Delhi University. When the student was on her way to an extra class, miscreants threw acid on her in the middle of the road. This attack shows that Delhi is not at all safe for women. The miscreants have no fear whatsoever. If the BJP government had paid attention to law and order, this incident would not have happened today.” (Archived link)
Fake news peddler Neha Singh Rathore asserted, “In Delhi, a female student of Delhi University has been attacked with acid. The BJP government is in power both at the center and in Delhi. Under BJP’s rule, the condition of women has worsened. There has been a flood of crimes and derogatory remarks against them. People of Bihar, are you watching!” (Archived link)
Srinivas BV stated, “In the capital Delhi, an acid attack on the 20-year-old daughter of DUSU. The entire BJP is silent.” (Archived link)
The claim was also shared by other handles like NSUI (Archived link), Ismat Ara (Archived link), Narendra Nath Mishra (Archived link), Sarika Singh (Archived link), Kerala Congress Sevadal (Archived link), Peek TV (Archived link), Sahil Kazmi (Archived link), and Dravidian Natesh (Archived link).
In our fact check research, we conducted a keyword search and found a detailed report by Dainik Bhaskar. According to the report, the claim of an acid attack on a 20-year-old Delhi University turned out to be a conspiracy, which was hatched by the student’s father.
On reviewing CCTV footage, call data records (CDRs), and location logs of the three alleged accused, the police found no evidence that they were present at the crime scene or involved in the incident. The alleged accused, Jitendra was reportedly in the Karol Bagh area with this wife, while the other two accused were found to be in Agra at the time.
In the investigation, it emerged that the student’s father, Aqeel Khan, had conspired to falsely implicate Jitendra, Ishaan, and Armaan, due to personal animosity. It was found that Jitendra’s wife had peviously worked in Aqeel’s factory and had filed a rape case against him. She stated in her complaint that Aqeel had sexually assaulted her and also took her private photographs.
After learning about the complaint filed against him by Jitendra’s wife, Aqeel to deflect attention from the charges or perhaps to retaliate, orchestrated the fake acid attack story with his daughter.
The investigation further revealed that the daughter had used toilet cleaner on her hands and claimed it was acid. Moreover, no acid bottle or other chemical evidence was recovered from the scene; the victim’s bag showed no acid stains; the burns on her hands appeared inconsistent with typical acid-attack injuries.
As per Navbharat Times report, Aqeel Khan has confessed to the police that he had fabricated this story. He also admitted that he wanted to trap Jitendra due to the complaint filed by Jitendra’s wife and also wanted to falsely implicate Ishaan and Armaan over a long-standing property dispute with them.
In conclusion, the claim going viral about an acid attack on a Delhi University student is false. Police investigation and media reports confirms that the incident was fabricated by the student’s father, Aqeel Khan, to seek vengeance from Jitendra, Ishaan, and Armaan over animosity. Evidence including CCTV footage, call records, and forensic details showed no involvement of the framed individuals.
