Viral Balloon Seller Harassment Video Is Scripted, Not from India
A video is being shared online showing a man harassing a boy selling balloon. This video is being attributed to India with claims suggesting that it shows a Muslim boy being harassed because of his religious identity.
Sharing the video with the hashtag New India, the handle Deepu Gowdru wrote, “We must hold the trembling hands and strengthen them. We must not show our strength on the helpless.” (Archived link)
Quoting Deepu Gowdru’s video, the actress Richa Chadha asserted, “I wanna speak to the bystanders, why are you afraid of this piece of turd, who’s assaulting a minor’s right to earn a living? Your families raised you to be cowards or what?” (Archived link)
Congress Kerala wrote, “Hatred has reduce our Republic to this.”
Voice of Tribals asserted, “A Muslim child was selling a balloon. As soon as the gaze of a person with a Sanghi mentality fell on the child wearing a cap, then what happened next was that the hateful Chintu started popping the balloon. People are filled with so much hatred.” (Archived link)

In our fact-checking research, we extracted different keyframes from the viral clip and performed a reverse image search. During this process, we found the same clip posted on Facebook on January 13, 2026, by a handle named Amazing Collection 24.
The video was posted in two parts. The first part shows a man bursting the balloons while the boy tries to stop him. It carries a caption in Bangla that reads, “What happened to the little boy with the balloons?”
In the second video, the same man is seen giving 1000 taka to the balloon selling boy and the post is captioned as “Gave ₹1,000 to the small balloon-selling boy.”
The Taka is the currency of Bangladesh, not India. This indicates that the video is from Bangladesh, and its content appears to be scripted. The account that originally shared this clip is also based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and has posted several other scripted videos.
In conclusion, the clip showing a Muslim balloon seller being harassed by a man is from Bangladesh and is scripted. Claims attributing the video to India and alleging that it shows a Muslim boy being harassed because of his religious identity are false and misleading.
