A social media post is going viral, claiming that an exchange of fire occurred between Sikh and non-Sikh Indian Army soldiers on the night of April 25–26, resulting in the death of 5–6 Sikh personnel. However, our investigation found this claim to be false, and a piece of propaganda likely aimed at creating religious discord within the Indian Army spread by Pakistan.
Zulfiqar Ali wrote, ‘Indian Army Shoots Its Own Sikh Soldiers. On the night of April 25-26, two Indian Army units exchanged fire along the Line of Control in occupied Kashmir, resulting in the death of 5 Sikh soldiers. The incident occurred during a patrol near Japala Bridge, Baramulla.’

Fact Check
We began our fact-checking process by performing a reverse image search of the viral photo, which shows 4–5 individuals in camouflage uniforms carrying an injured man. The search led us to a report published by Anandabazar on April 13, 2014, which used the same image to represent a Maoist attack in a Naxal-affected area. According to the report Maoists launched a deadly ambush on poll workers returning from election duty in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, killing seven people.
Therefore, the viral image is unrelated to the current tensions at the Line of Control (LoC).
Additionally, we found no credible reports of any exchange of gunfire between Indian soldiers. The Indian Army is known for its professionalism, integrity, and unity, rising above divisions of religion, region, or caste. Attempts to portray internal discord are baseless and appear to be propaganda aimed at undermining the Army’s cohesion.
