During the fact-checking research, we noticed that the newspaper clipping in the top right corner had the phrase “This might be satire” written on it.
Then, we searched for ‘The Savala Vada’ on Google, which led us to its Instagram handle. The page explicitly mentions that it is a satirical and parody account that regularly posts satire content for entertainment purposes. The posts on this page are not based on real events.
The viral newspaper clipping was uploaded on their Instagram page a day ago. The second slide of this post contained another satirical news piece claiming that South Asian University has been renamed Akhand Bharat University. The page frequently shares political satire posts.
In conclusion, the viral newspaper clipping claiming that ABVP members attacked a zoo in Delhi on Mahashivratri over tigers being served non-vegetarian food is satire. It was originally posted by a parody page and is being misleadingly shared as real news.
