Priyanka Gandhi Vadra sharing the video wrote, “This video from Firozabad, UP confirms the story of our ailing health system. The public is bearing the brunt of expensive treatment. According to a report, more than 6 crore people in the country go into poverty every year due to expensive treatment. To achieve the national health insurance target, the current health budget should be reduced by 73%. Public demand – Save people, BJP’s priority – Save the chair.”

Fact Check

In our fact-check research, we conducted a keyword search on Google and found a report by Dainik Bhaskar. According to the report, the incident is from Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh. The man lying on the road with the oxygen cylinder is 40-year-old Khacherpal, a resident of Salai. He was keeping unwell and was undergoing treatment in Agra for the last three days. The family brought him home, and according to them, Khacherpal has to be kept on oxygen all the time.

Further, it was found that he himself went to the shop to buy the oxygen, and his health started deteriorating again. To save his life, the shopkeeper placed the cylinder on the road itself. Someone made a video of him lying and taking oxygen on the road, which was then made viral on social media. Following this, City Magistrate Rajendra Singh reached the gas agency to investigate the matter. Khacherpal was admitted to the hospital.

As the video went viral on social media, blaming the health system, District Magistrate Ramesh Ranjan issued a clarification, stating that the person shown in the video is not lying in front of or outside any hospital. He added that the video is completely fabricated and that action will be taken against those who created it.

Conclusion: The video showing a man lying on the road and taking oxygen, which is going viral with the claim that he was not provided healthcare and hence was in such a condition on the road, is misleading. The man, Khacherpal, had gone home after undergoing three days of treatment in a hospital. He went to a shop to buy oxygen for himself, and his health started deteriorating again. In such a situation, to save his life, he was made to lie on the road and was provided with oxygen. Later, he was admitted to the hospital.
