A video of a farmer protest in Delhi is going viral, claiming it to be recent. A user named Manjeet Ghoshi shared the video and wrote that after the Gen Z protests, the farmers agitation has begun. (Archived link)

Fact Check

In our fact check research, we took keyframes from the video and ran a reverse image search. During this, we found tha same video posted on Hindustan Tehelka News on December 02, 2024. According to the post’s caption, the video shows farmers protesting in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Noida, breaking police barricades and moving towards Delhi.

As per Amar Ujala report dated December 03, 2024, farmers from Noida and surrounding areas were protest against land acquisitions by authorities such as Noida Authority, Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). The protest took place to demand better compensation and benefits for their acquired land. On December 02, 2024, the protesters decided to march towards Delhi under banners like Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP)) to press these demands and gathered near the Mahamaya Flyover area in Noida crossing police barricades and blocking traffic.
