Following this, the Sanauli police alerted Dial-112 and reached a checkpoint at the Yamuna border. A Bolero vehicle coming from the Panipat side was stopped. The vehicle was found carrying six animals without any provision for food or water, and they were crammed tightly inside. When asked for documents, the people in the vehicle could not produce any. The police initially took action at the checkpoint.
Karan later claimed that shortly afterward, the Dial-112 team returned and tried to bribe him. A while later, a large truck also came from the Panipat direction.
