Recently, news has been circulating that the CM of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, traveled to Delhi to meet PM Modi and BJP President JP Nadda, but the meeting did not take place. Nitish had to return from Delhi without meeting them. Following this news, a rumor has been spreading on social media that Nitish Kumar might soon break his alliance with the NDA. Amidst this, a video clip from an Aaj Tak news report is being shared on social media with the claim that Nitish has broken his alliance with the BJP and has formed an alliance with Lalu Yadav’s party, RJD. In the video, Nitish Kumar is heard saying that the meeting took place and that it has been decided that they should quit the NDA.

The video was shared by the handles Shivbachan Yadav, Raj Academy Prayagraj, and Arya.

Fact check

In our fact-checking research, we conducted a keyword search on YouTube using clues from the graphics visible in the viral clip. During this search, we discovered that the video was originally shared on Aaj Tak’s YouTube channel two years ago. The title of the video reads, “Fir Aa Rahi Nitish-Lalu Ki Dosti Ka Daur” (The era of Nitish-Lalu friendship is returning). The video was uploaded on August 9, 2022, following Nitish Kumar’s decision to break his alliance with the BJP and join the grand alliance government comprising the JDU, RJD, Congress, and Left parties. He also retained his position as Chief Minister.

At the beginning of the video, the same viral clip plays, where Nitish Kumar says that after the meeting, it was decided they would break their alliance with the BJP.
