A disturbing video of a tribal man being urinated on in the Sidhi area of Madhya Pradesh recently went viral on social media. The man who urinated on him was Pravesh Shukla, who was arrested after CM Shivraj Chouhan took cognisance of the matter and his house was demolished by the authorities. Later, the victim was called by the CM who washed his feet and planted a sapling with him.

However, a pro-Congress account @/niiravmodi, a serial fake news peddler, on his Twitter page tweeted a video of the named Dashmat Rawat who was called by the Madhya Pradesh’s CM. He claimed that Dashmat is not the person who was urinated on in the viral video. He has been framed by the BJP government.

In the 27-second video, Dashmat Rawat is heard saying, “After my video went viral, I denied that I was in the video. I also went to the police station, and informed the inspector, that I am not in the video.”

Besides, the pro-Congressi journalist, Shyam Meera Singh, tweeting the same video wrote that the man whose feet were washed by CM Shivraj Singh is saying that “It is not me on whom Pravesh Shukla urinated. I saw the video. I told the collector sir to everyone that it is not me at all.”

Another verified account, Prashant Kanojia, who is the National Campaign Incharge of the RJD party, as per his bio, wrote, “In Madhya Pradesh, the tribal person whose feet were washed by the Chief Minister is not a victim of urination incident. An attempt was also made to save terrorist Pravesh Shukla by making a fake affidavit. What will Mama say for this 420C act?”

Fact Check

We saw the Zee News logo in the video that user @/niiravmodi tweeted. Since the event occurred in Madhya Pradesh, we visited the Zee News YouTube page as well as the Zee Madhya Pradesh Chhattisgarh page to get the complete narrative behind the 27-second video.

On the YouTube page of Zee Madhya Pradesh, we found the original interview video which is of 6 minutes and 7 seconds. At 1 min 9 seconds, Dashmat Rawat says that the incident happened in 2020. While returning from the market, he sat down next to a store. Pravesh Shukla, the accused, arrived and began peeing on him.

He further adds that after the video went viral many people have shown him and told that he is in it. Despite people saying that the man on whom Pravesh Shuka is urinating is him, he was denying it. When the reporter asked him the reason for his refusal, he said in code language that he was drunk and could not see the man who was urinating on him and that he could not understand what was happening as he was wasn’t in his senses.

Hence, the video tweeted by the parody account, Nimo Yadav, and Shyam Meera Singh, is misleading. They deliberately tweeted the cropped version of the original video. Moreover, from what the victim has said so far, it is concluded that the victim was denying that he was not the one in the video, as he was not in his senses when the incident happened. Additionally, he already acknowledged at the beginning of the interview video that the incident happened in 2020 when he was coming home from the market.
