A video of a man wearing an NSG commando uniform is going viral on the social media platform X. In the video, he claims that his mother is being harassed by the state police at the behest of the mining mafia. He states that despite reaching out to the authorities, no help has been provided. The man further says, “I am a soldier. Let me remain a soldier. Don’t force me to become another mafia in the fight for justice for my family.” The video is being circulated with the claim that the NSG commando was beaten by mafias and that his mother is being harassed due to caste discrimination. Some individuals are also alleging that the video is from Gujarat. However, our investigation has found that all of these claims are misleading.

Munna Lal Ambedkarwadi claimed, ‘Those who say that casteism has ended in India, then what is happening with this Gujarat NSG Black Commando deployed in PM Security? This news is a big slap on the face of all those people who have double standards mentality…’

Jitendra Baharti also stated, ‘Those who say that casteism has ended in India, then what is happening with this Gujarat NSG Black Commando deployed in PM Security? This news is a big slap on the face of all those people who have double standards mentality…’

Political Graph wrote,  ‘Those who say that casteism has ended in India, look at this Gujarat NSG Black Commando deployed in PM security, what is happening to him? Is this news not a slap on the face of all those with a double standard mentality?’

Fact Check

We began our fact-checking process by conducting a reverse image search of the video. During the search, we found a YouTube video by Khabar Pustak, shared on February 21, 2022. The report stated that in Fatehpur village of Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, a group of mafia members had been harassing the family of NSG commando Rajeev Bhadauria, who is a resident of Etawah.

In the video, Rajeev Bhadauria claims that the goons harassed his mother and, when he confronted them, they attacked him, and snatched his phone, gold chain, and sunglasses. He further alleged that his brothers were also beaten by the mafia. Expressing frustration with the local police, he stated that despite multiple cases against the mafia, no action had been taken. He added that he had no hope for justice from the local authorities and had decided to file his complaint at the CO office.

We also found a Dainik Jagran article published on February 21, 2022, the article stated that Rajeev Bhadauria, a resident of Fatehpura village under Bakewar police station, was posted in Ahmedabad. While on leave, Rajeev was visiting his village Fatehpur. On Monday, while heading to Lakhna along with his brother Sanjiv Bhadauria to get medicine for his mother, he was ambushed near Nandpura village by his neighbours and relatives—Akshay Singh, Santosh Singh, Shani Singh, Devendra Singh, and Sambhav Singh. The attackers assaulted him with sticks and sharp weapons. Hearing the commotion, residents of Nandpura rushed to his aid, forcing the assailants to flee.

The commando reported the incident at the Bakewar Police Station and informed police that the same attackers had targeted him again on Sunday, causing minor injuries. The report further revealed that this was not the first time Rajeev had been attacked. In 2016, the same individuals had barged into his home and assaulted him. One of the accused was identified as a mining mafia member and a history-sheeter who had previously served time in prison.

The SSP Jay Prakash Singh informed that CO (Circle Officer) Bharthana, Sadhuram, was sent to Rajeev’s residence for investigation, but he was not found there. The police registered a case against all the accused and assured strict action. However, Rajeev expressed dissatisfaction with the police’s handling of the case, alleging that the attackers were roaming freely, raising suspicions of police complicity. He criticized the authorities for failing to take immediate action against the culprits.

Additionally, we found a report from Live Hindustan, published on March 22, 2022, which stated that following allegations of assault and looting made by NSG commando Rajeev Bhadauria, the police registered a case based on his written complaint. However, during the investigation, the police found the looting claims to be false. Lakhna outpost in-charge Dinesh Kumar Yadav arrested three of the accused—Akshay Pratap, Praveen Singh, and Devendra Singh—and sent them to jail for disturbing public peace.

However, SSP Jay Prakash Singh revealed that the investigation found no evidence of looting. The scuffle reportedly occurred over a dispute related to bike passage on the road. During the inquiry, claims of looting the commando’s chain, glasses, and mobile phone were proven false.

Moreover, we reviewed the FIR report, which made no mention of the incident being caste-related. The FIR stated that while Rajeev was on his way home, Santosh Singh, son of Shiva Singh, deliberately collided his bike with Rajeev’s. When Rajeev confronted him about reckless driving, Santosh called his family members for support. Soon after, Devendra Singh, Shani Singh, and other relatives arrived and assaulted Rajeev with sticks and rods. During the attack, the assailants allegedly snatched his glasses, a gold chain, and his mobile phone. Following this, Rajeev’s nephew, Shivansh Bhadauria, who was with him at the time, was also assaulted. Later, when Rajeev’s sister-in-law, Raju Bhadauria, and his cousin, Sanjeev Bhadauria, learned about the incident and tried to intervene, they were also beaten by the attackers.

Additionally, we found a statement by Etawah SSP on the entire incident, where he clarified that there was no evidence of looting. He confirmed that the incident was a scuffle between two parties over a bike collision. Apart from the physical altercation, no incident of looting took place.
