Fact Check
Our team conducted research to probe the reason behind demolition of madarsa in Assam. Through keyword search tool, we came across the report by The Hindu and Free Press Journal stating that a madarsa reportedly affiliated with al-Qaeda was demolished on Wednesday by officials in western Assam’s Bongaigaon district after 37 people linked to the islamist terrorist group were apprehended. An imam from a mosque and a few madarsa professors were among those detained; others were reportedly involved in money transactions for ABT.
Hafizur Rahman, a teacher at this madarsa, was arrested on August 26 based on information provided by two imams from the Goalpara region who had previously been held by the police. The Ansarullah Bangla Team and Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) are two terrorist organizations that Rahman and two imams are allegedly closely affiliated with (ABT).
When questioned about the cause of the demolition, the policeman said that the madarsa was built in violation of official regulations, and the required building permits were also not sought. The cops discovered some offensive objects and a few documents in Madarsa while conducting their investigation.
Prior to the demolition, 200 students were evacuated from the madarsa and were sent home, while those who remained inside the premises were shifted to other local institutions.
Our research established that Assam government demolished a madarsa because of its ties to terrorist organization. In order to deceive people and criticize Himanta Biswa’s government, Khaled Beydoun and the member of the AIMIM party presented incomplete information.
